I was just at the local card store last night and bought a few packs to get the Mickey Mantle & Barry Bonds special weekly cards offered for pulling the rookies cards out ofthe 2006 packs. Anyhow, when I was busting my packs the owner asks if I got any #297 because there was a guy that bought a jumbo hobby box andthat was the only card he needed for the set. I'm sure glad I didn't pull one because I probably would have just given it away and lost out on making a mortgage payment.

Is it just me or does anyone else view the "die-cut" Alex Gordon cards as damaged goods. I wouldn't really consider that a "real" card because a large hole in the card ruins it for me imho. And of course the back of this card is ruined, too. But for some reason, this card would be more intriguing to me if they had just printed a black box over the picture, ala Billy Ripken's 1989 Fleer "Rick Face" card. By doing this, the back of the card would be intact too. Oh well....

I have no doubt that more and more of these will surface as time goes on. When the first one came around it was thought to be the only one. And now they are popping up in Asia, the Midwest, etc. Sure I bet that there is only 50-100 or so around, but damn I wish my parallels #rd to 50 or 100 sold like that card!!! I see 3 completed listings so far all of them under $800. But all over $700. Makes me want to buy Topps, even though I absolutely hate it. Im sure we'll all be watching.

think about that nebraska quarter where some corn stalks had several leaves and some had only 1. the first couple quarters sold for a couple hundred thousand and ill bet those people feel really stupid. I think they will continue to pop up and the people paying 700 now will find them less than half that before too long.
