...and yet when they want a quick and easy 'kill' the answer is almost always a gun.
Do you think it makes sense that our cars are more heavily regulated than our weapons?

Thats a real shame then. Its a sad day when you go to school and in the back of your mind you have to think about something like this. I was in the grocery store yesterday and I walked past where a guy was filling balloons up with helium. I went up two isles over and one of the balloons popped, inside I jumped a bit and in the back of my mind for a split second I was like oh no. At that same moment I was walking past a slightly older couple and you could see the fear in their face for an instant. And I knew immediately what they thought as well. Its just pathetic things are like this now. I can sort of get someone having an issue with someone else and doing something stupid. However it just makes no sense to me to open fire on a group of people who did nothing to you, and I honestly never thought someone would do it to a a bunch of 6 year olds. I don't have children yet, but I am at the point in my life where one will be in the plans soon and it just worries me. When I was growing up my parents had to worry about if I got into a fight or goofed off in class. Now a days you fear for your childs life when they go to school and it doesn't get much more pathetic than that.
On a side note I don't believe anyone is saying BAN guns. We are saying we want MUCH stricter gun laws on how and what you can obtain as far as firearms go.

Fine, as long as you are in a well-regulated state militia, you can have a musket and black powder. Everyone is happy.

I tried to find a shorter version. These are some of the things needed to obtain certain types of guns in Va. I know they have updated the assault like weapons, you need a Birth Certificate along with valid driver's license and a 2nd proof of residency.
As long as your criminal history does not preclude your ownership of a firearm, you can purchase a rifle at the age of 21. Most states have an antiquated waiting period in order ot check a purchaser's criminal history. Virginia has automated the process so you can purchase the firearm in the same day. To purchase a firearm in Virginia, you must present two forms of ID: a Primary ID and a Secondary ID.
Primary Identification
The primary form of ID shall consist of a valid photo-ID form issued by a governmental agency of the Commonwealth or of the prospective purchaser or transferee’s home state that denotes the individual’s name, race, sex, address, and date of birth. Where the primary form is a photo-ID issued by the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), the dealer shall not transfer a firearm to the prospective purchaser until 30-days after the date of issue of an original or duplicate driver's license unless a copy of his/her DMV driver's record is presented showing that the original date of issue was more than 30-days prior to the attempted purchase.
The primary form of ID for a non-Virginia resident, for the purchase of a rifle or shotgun, must consist of a valid photo-ID issued by a governmental agency of the prospective purchaser’s home state that denote the purchaser’s name, race, sex, date of birth and address. Federal law prohibits the sale or transfer of a handgun to a nonresident of the state in which the handgun is being purchased.
A social security card IS NOT an acceptable form of identification.
A birth certificate IS NOT an acceptable form of identification.
Effective January 1, 2004, DMV will not issue an original license, permit, or ID card to any applicant who has not presented evidence that he/she is a citizen of the United States, a legal permanent resident, or an authorized temporary resident alien of the United States. In the instance of temporary residence, the DMV document will only be valid during the period of authorized stay in the United States.
Secondary Identification
The secondary form of identification, for Virginia residents and residents of other states, must show an address identical to that shown on the primary form of identification. Some acceptable forms of secondary ID are:
* a current lease,
* evidence of currently paid personal property tax or real estate tax,
* a current utility or telephone bill,
* a current voter registration card,
* a current bank check,
* a current passport,
* a current automobile registration and
* current hunting or fishing license.

What's your end goal with these arguments? Just trying to figure it out...do you want a ban on all guns?
