We were in Sioux Lookout Ontario and it was always neat to go to the dump and see 10 bears rummaging through it all. Good stuff!

Well, I'm at the other end of the country, but that was always fun to watch when I was a kid.

Well, with that logic we should ban all laws, since criminals will just break them anyway.
Man, Jay, this IS much easier. It will end in anarchy, but why have laws if they'll just be broken.

and if I had a gun I would use it.....Instead I use my hands which I am trained for...
and yes we have been broken into several times in this house...and No I would not move to your neighborhood. Because you as a Citizen make me very comfortable. You show your true character right in that one comment...
But a question ...What would the difference be in defending your home with say a 9MM pistol or an AR15? and before you answer there would be no difference ... GSW is a GSW still injury or even death can occur.

Pretty sure he was saying we shouldn't fear the law-abiding citizens.

What I found shocking on several News Channels including Faux, was this:
It is a far easier process to obtain a gun permit, then go out and purchase several guns and ammunition, than it is to obtain any type of Mental Medical Health, even when you say to your initial provider, I think I may have a problem, or even starting the ball rolling in terms of Mental Health when referred by a tending Physician or if you are directed by the Law.
That is a travesty.
If you go to your Spouse, Mom, Dad, Brother and Sister and say "I think I may need some help"....or if you are part of am intervention, or if you have been told by others to seek Mental Medical Advice, you can own an Armada and prepare a stockade of weapons before your Mental Health situation is taken seriously even for a second.

Well I'm glad I can comfort you. If I were trained to use my hands I would but I'm not. I'm not saying you need to shoot and kill anyone that comes into your house. Just to have a gun aimed at the intruder is enough to make them either stop what they or doing or get out.
You are right, a wound is a wound. A .223 is more likely going to cause more damage than a 9mm. Like I said before - Ban new manufactures and sales...This starts the process. You can't ban something overnight and expect everyone to turn in their guns..

i find it strange that the most commonly used weapon in a mass shooting is a semi auto pistol but you are okay with them its the ar 15 you want to demonize.

Well I'm leaving this convo because no matter what is said on here we can't control what our politicians do. If you want action, run for congress. I'll stay on the trading, buying, and cardboard talk from now on. Good luck solving all the worlds problems everyone!

I don't think there should be gun bans but definitely should be stricter checks when buying them.
Take me for example, I'm a 19 year old male in Michigan. I actually went to a gun shop today (Action Impact) because I plan on buying a weapon before any bans that may or may not happen. At 19 in Michigan I can't legally buy a Pistol but I can walk in, do an instant background check and walk out with an AK or an AR15 in 20 minutes. I mean really, 20 minutes is all it takes and you can get an Semi Auto assault rifle.
Personally I feel you should have to undergo a background check in store (already do) but also undergo a psych evaluation as well from a professional Doctor to verify that you are a sane individual who's no messed up in the head and have to undergo a proper gun control course before you can be allowed to buy anything. Like I said, I can get an AK in 20 minutes and the store selling it would have no idea of my mental health state and if it would be an issue or not.
And yes when I went to Action Impact today I did in fact pick up a WASR-10 AK-47 and a Bushmaster AR-15. I've always been a "gun nut" and supporter as I was raised in a gun friendly household. I've been shooting since I was 6 either at a range or hunting, my parents taught about gun control and responsibility from an early age and I'm smart enough to know how to properly handle them unlike a lot of the uninformed uneducated gun owners. And I'm not just buying these guns in light of recent news and the threat of stricter laws/bans, I already had a Colt M4 as well as a couple Shot Guns and Hunting Rifles to begin with.Last edited by MattDMC; 12-20-2012 at 07:11 PM.
