Ranfordfan is so correct. 4 ladies at my Local Post Office. 3 of them treat me kindly... one of them is playing it by the book.
"This doesnt feel like documents"
'It's wrapped in plastic so it doesn't bend"
"Okay, but it could come back to you if they discover it's not just documents"
Who the hell is 'they'?
I said, 'I've sent 1,000 packages to the states, not one has returned. I believe that in saving $4,000+ in shipping over the years that I can handle one package coming back because of customs. Why should I pay a premium for a package that will be handled the same way as a package with stamps on it?"
She would do this to me every time. She finally asked what I do. I told her. She brought in an old silver whistle her father used in WWII which I identified for her and she never questioned me after that. For years now I just put stamps on the package and drop it off in any box. Every now and then I dont have stamps so I have to go in. They know better than to question me. Not only that, but I have helped two new employees learn how to charge me correctly. I've sent more packages than these new employees and I have to help them with the correct amount. They're trying to shove the envelope through every slot and I have to tell them.. 'over-sized envelope. $1.80 Canadian," they're trying to put an 85 cent stamp on it and I dont want it returned. I say 'it's classified as over-sized'. "oh youre right yes, okay, $1.80 plus tax"
Customs for anything not a parcel is not necessary at all. When it is a parcel you just generalize what's in it. If they think there is heroin inside then so-be-it. The parcels go through a gamma-ray anyways.Master List: Hidden Content

CP can not inspect every package. If there is an actual sticker on the package that was printed off by the clerk, I imagine anyone who checks it doesn't even give it a second glance.
There was a new girl there a couple of months ago who charged me full price. I mildly questioned it but didn't press it because I hate it when someone tries to tell me how to do my job and because I knew those were the actual rates. Now I just go first thing in the morning because I know one of them will be there at that time.

I received a bubble mailer from the US which had a customs form. Not only did the form disclose the the amount paid, and the fact that it contained a card, but had the set, player name and number listed. Why is it anyone's business that a "Carey Price Auto" was coming through customs. I'm lucky it made it to my door.

Thats nuts, I'm amazed it made it to you!
I don't remember where I read it but when I first started trading and mailing to Canada I saw somebody post on a forum that they always wrote pictures as the contents and always a low value. To this day whether its a $5 card or a $50 I always label everything as Pictures with a $10 value and never had a single package go missing. I can't believe anybody would actually put the full card info on the form, thats just asking for it to come up missing.

I never put the contents...always either postcards, or pictures...both of which are not lying. And as far as value, usually only $10...sometimes more depending. But that is only when it is a little thick and they make me do the form.

Unfortunately, if you're buying singles, ebay is still your best bet, problems and all.
