My 2 cents. Actually, all numbered cards are 1/1 cards in case Panini ( or Fleer, UD, Topps...) does not have dupes of the cards in stock they sell in the packs. There is only 1 card numbered 01/xxx and only one card numbered 02/xxx and so on. I don´t regard them as 1/1s but they are.

All numbered cards are unique you are correct but it is stretch to call them one of a kind. No other hobby identifies something that is individually numbered refers to the stuff as a 1/1 when there was 5000 different ones stamped. It comes down to sellers on eBay getting more looks in searches by including things like NO AUTO, 1/1, etc and that's why people do it. Nobody would label a #D card at a card show or a card shop a 1/1 (even here they wouldn't do it) but on eBay it benefits them and increases their profits so they come up with stupid excuses to do so.

Like I said tho I do kinda dig the Jersey number numbered... Not enough to pay a premium but its sorta cool.

As I said, I don´t regard them as 1/1 cards as well and I would not call them 1/1 cards. I know that lots of sellers on ebay label their cards as "1/1" because it is the first, last or matching jersey number card. Same as using the words "Jordan", "Kobe" or whatever superstar´s name attracks attention. I personally hate that, especially this often used phrase "(next) PMG" for Certified green cards.

The ebay 1/1 means next to nothing to most people in recent times and there is only one true one of one out there in a print run. With the number of 1/1 books, tags and shields the ebay 1/1 has pretty much died out.
