The Differences Between Liberals and Conservatives on Key Issues

A while back, I did sort of an unofficial poll to shed some light on this same argument that I was having with some band mates

Unprovoked, I asked all of my friends who are Conservative what they want in a politician or government. The overwhelmingly popular response was "Someone who will allow ME to have the most happy and successful life"

All of my friends who are Liberal overwhelmingly answered " Someone who would help PEOPLE have the most happy and successful lives"

Once again, totally unscientific, and purposefully broad, but I thought that it was funny that the words ME and PEOPLE were the same within the two groups. NONE of the known Conservatives said anything about others, and NONE of the known liberals said anything about themselves. Interesting that all of my independent, or neutral friends took the "for the good of the PEOPLE" side and not "for the good of ME side"

...like I said, this was totally informal, and spur of the moment. I preceded it with no prior information, and did not let them know the "Why"...I was just curious.

So the feel I got was that was Conservatives are worried about "ME", Liberals and Independents are worried about "US". To this day, that formula has been pretty solid for most situations
