There are many times I see cards that I know I shouldn't buy due to the price. Yes, it hurts sometimes letting ones go, but its much worse than having the card and being short on money (at least that's what I tell myself).

As people have said, it's very frusterating. It probably won't get easier unless you leave the hobby or start taking it much less seriously.
But in the end, they're pieces of cardboard. They might have a piece of a jersey or auto along with it! That's what keeps me from going crazy.

As others have said, 1/1's can indeed change hands on many occasions. You just have to hope that the timing is right for you when it does happen. I know that the Gorges Cup Black Rainbow 1/1 from his rookie year passed through at least two other sets of hands before it made its way to me. I lucked out with the timing because I got it for barely in the three figures, as I suspect it'd be a bit more than that now.
