We have no rights to infringe on. This is just going in the opposite direction of what I think it should. As such, I'm going to say so. I'm not trying to start trouble or anything, but you're trying to tie all aspects of society to two, and I think that stifles, rather than creates, dialogue.

I just see it as over policing. I don't see the need to have to explain the post as to how it pertains to politics or religion. The thing for me is that there are tons of interesting topics that will not be allowed in this forum since it doesn't have a connection to P or R. To me that seems like it has the potential to stifle a lot of good discussion on this forum. I don't start a lot of threads but having to defend the validity of a thread to live in this forum is a bit odd, in my opinion.
I get that you didn't make the rules, but what sort of information can you give us that brought this issue up in the first place. It seems to me that a lot of the posts I've seen of guys asking what specific posts have to do with P&R are between guys who have some sort of beef with each other. I'm just curious what brought about this enforcement.
who would be a person that could alter the forum name to be less specific to other social topics and not just P&R?
when you ask if anyone is willing to try do you mean try adding info about how a post pertains to either P or R? I don't typically post many threads so I can't say I'm willing to try. I think some of the main thread starters will have to weigh in. I just comment on the topics that interest me. If a topic was interesting and was axed or not started at all because it doesn't specifically pertain to P or R I think that would be a shame. I just don't see non P&R threads as being detrimental to this forum.

I agree. If you force topics that are similar to P&R to live in the chit chat forum they more than likely won't get a whole lot of posts. I guess that will be seen as they are forced there, but I know that I rarely go to the forum other than to click on the P&R link.

Nobody has an issue with you shrew, we know it's not your fault. You know who most of us have the problem with, he didn't want to discuss it with the people who most often post in here though, he just laid down the law.

SCF is the most closed-minded website out there. There are far too many rules. There's little freedom
If you post your mind on the Hockey Chat, a certain individual ends up acting like your Dad, and thinks everyone should conform to his line of thinking. He waits for opportunities to send you PM's to tell you about your behaviour, when your behaviour has been nothing but model.
Shrew, you are perhaps the only Moderator on SCF that does not act like a COP. I'd like it kept that way.

Actually Centrehice, you'd be surprised at how many websites take the policy of "No Politics & Religion" very strictly.
Go to Blowoutcards.com to see what I mean. (A sports cards website very similar to this one)
Any mention of politics and religion and you are subject to banishment.
I don't know how strict the rules are in pertaining to other sections of this website, but I'm very appreciative that at the very least we are able to discuss politics and religion.
I've even been to websites where they do allow P&R but only if you conform with the rest of the group......in other words, if you start making "trouble" because you have a different opinion, you're banned.
In terms of P&R I applaud SCF for freely allowing discussion on it.

We get to have great discussion because of Shrew. This is the busiest non-trading non-selling forum because of him. The other Mods are Midget Kings controlling their own wee Fiefdoms. Consequently they are not all that busy like this one is.
A thread is only as good as it's Moderator.
The only other site I can think of that has been destroyed by Mods were the old great ESPNBA forums, where on Hockey, nobody posts anymore. Destroyed by Mod-Cops.Last edited by centrehice; 06-12-2013 at 01:36 PM.

hmm... I don;t get to the hockey boards ever but I've never had any mods try to get me to conform to their line of thinking.
I agree, shrew definitely hasn't been a cop-like mod. I didn't even know he was a mod until monday. lol
