Edward Snowden....Hero or Traitor?
IMO, this guy is 100% a Hero for blowing the whistle on these horrible unconstitutional surveillance programs the U.S is currently doing with NSA.
But I want to hear what you think.
Careful though....whatever you say is probably being recorded by NSA.
Seriously, living in 1984 sucks big time.

I think the fact the only backlash I've heard against the guy is that he's a low level guy looking for attention speaks volumes about his character.
At the moment anyway. Maybe there's something I haven't heard?

It's easy for those that have their own TV shows, to Big themselves up by marginalizing this man. Only he knows his agenda, nobody else, but certain moderators on the boob-tube take every opportunity to slam him hoping that they are at the front of the line and not some obscure area in the middle.
Humans are worse than Turkeys when it comes to initially sorting out the popular view.

You've been living in 1984 since the end of WWII Alex..............the FBI and the CIA and the NSA and all of the entities you've never even heard of............the internet just went and made things easier for all of them. Why do you think it's so cheap, almost free? So that employee #13843 in CIA substation #9 can note in my file that I like hockey cards, 30 Rock and pictures of ladies kissing each other. Not proud but not ashamed either.
I think Edward Snowden thinks he's in the right, but there's probably a much bigger picture he doesn't understand. I sure don't. The world is screwed up in more ways than I can imagine. But that doesn't mean I don't play my meaningless part. They can watch me all they want, I'm not very entertaining :)
In the end, The Constitution is a piece of paper from the long-dead past. He who controls the past controls it allllllllll............

There's nothing wrong with those interests. Nothing at all.

@87sluggo Yeah, I'll agree that We've been living in 1984 for some time now....and I'll also agree that the internet has made it easier for them.
But it's also given us the knowledge and insight in their crooked games.
And I want to stress that it's not just the U.S government that does this stuff, but they are one of the biggest perpetrators.
If we should be outraged about anything, it should be this.
Our privacy is non-existent.

I tend to agree with Habs. I definitely don't see him as a traitor as he hasn't given up specific information that would compromise our country from what I've heard. I also don't see him as a hero. I think what he did took guts as he's had to leave behind everything he's known. his family, girlfriend, friends, his whole life. I can't imagine having to do that. On the flip side, he did take a job and more than likely agreed to certain confidentiality agreements, but can see why he thought such practices were sketchy and needed to be reported. For myself, I would never want to be in his situation. I don't know that I'd be prepared to give up all he did by blowing the whistle.
