Sad but true. Definitely agree with you here

I agree with habs, I think they're gonna have an extremely hard time (even if he is guilty) to prove that he is guilty.

The case really comes down to what happened after Zimmerman was told to not follow Martin. Did he stop, or did he keep following him? I don't see how that can be proven one way or the other.

Also, following the trial, it's really sad how much this has been made into a racial issue. I expected as much, though.

Everything I have heard from the lawyers following the case say that this is irrelevant. The only thing that matters is the confrontation itself. It is not against the law to follow someone. It is also not against the law to ignore a 911 operator.

You're right it's not a crime, but it could lend itself to help know who started the fight. From the time Zimmerman hung up his phone, they got into some kind of fight. I don't see how they'll figure out who started it, which is what the case to me seems to come down to.

(well, that and the fact Florida's stand your ground law is far to loose in interpretation, it seems)

Can you imagine if the OJ case was going on now? What would veggie's take on it be? lol

Or better yet what would be your take on the Rodney King trial if it were today? To answer the OP even though I think Zimmerman is guilty as sin and should be hung from the gallows but this is Florida the same state that let a woman walk after killing her own baby so I wouldn't be surprised if zimmerman is aquitted.

I haven't followed it live or anything, but I don't see how they can prove that it wasn't self defense. I think there's a need to have the trial but from the evidence that I see it seems to be self defense, even though he was the one following trayvon. It may have been stupid or extreme, but following someone around in a public place is not illegal. The whole thing is tragic and it's completely stupid that it happened. Both people made mistakes in their reactions that night. It's horrible that one person lost his life. I'm not sure what should happen to Zimmerman, but I just don't think that he is guilty of murder. I do think that he should be banned from ever owning a gun or participating in any sort of neighborhood watch if he is found not guilty. My guess is that he will be guilty of some crime, just not murder... that is if he has other smaller charges.

I think he will be acquitted because the whole thing looks like self defense in my opinion. This is the sort of tragedy that happens when you have guns and bad decisions. There were bad decisions on both sides. Both people had the chance to take themselves out of the situation completely. It's a terrible shame that because of these bad decisions that one lost their life.

I think this Zimmerman is guilty of 2nd degree murder, not 1st.

I truly believe his attitude started out by wanting to ruin this kid's day, then escalated to, I think I'd like to shoot this guy. That's always going to be Murder in the 2nd when the victim dies. This trial should always have been about Murder 2 or Manslaughter.

The cost per inmate just went well over the $115K mark up from 90K if this guy gets in based on food costs alone if Zimmerman reaches the Crowbar Hotel.

This is a ridiculous comment. When did "ruin his day" switch to "like to shoot this guy"? Was it after the first banging of his head on the cement or the second? Zimmerman gave numerous statements to the authorities, all without legal council. If his state of mind was anything close to what you "believe" he would have requested council and said nothing. ALL the EVIDENCE corroborates Zimmerman's numerous statements. Boggles my mind how people just ignore the evidence and stick to a "belief". Kind of reminds me of another "belief" held by the masses.

If zimmerman set out to shoot trayvon, even in the middle of him following him, I would assume that he'd have shot him well before he was able to get to him and bust his nose and the back of his head. Why wait until the guy was on top of you, beating you before drawing your gun if you intended to shoot him ahead of time?
