So what you're saying is this has only been a problem since 2008?
All governments have properly enforced this to perfection except this one?
That's lame.
Make the punishments for hiring illegals worse than the benefits are good. If no one will hire them, you don't need a fence.
What I think is funny is that the Republicans claim Obama will do everything against big business but won't admit illegal immigration benefits all business. Punish the people who employ them. Cut off the head.

agreed, but we also need a fence for all those who work in the illegal trades.

The punishments are in place, businesses just know that there is a good chance that they will not be enforced so it is worth the risk to hire illegals.

And your party wants to give those employers, who obviously have no pride in their nation, more and more tax dollars to create more jobs for more illegal immigrants. In other words, reward them for what they're doing.
Glad to see you believe in things out of convenience. Stop paying off this immoral, un-American immigrant trappers and gain some priorities instead of simply cheering for a team. This is your country, not the playoffs. Learn that.

At least that's a valid reason, though at the same time, I don't see anyone fighting for a fence along the Canadian border and the flow of drugs/guns/etc over that border is just as concerning.
Most arguments regarding illegal immigration are the people causing the problem complaining about it.

well said. I've always thought the best way to crack down on illegal immigration would be to crack down on employers. For most illegal immigrants that are in the US there has to be an employer willing to pay them illegally... unless they have false identification I'd assume or making money with criminal activities.

So the fix to the immigration issue is for employers to reduce their profit margin by paying higher wages so that lazy people will be motivated enough to get a job instead of cashing welfare checks while Mexicans do the work?
A. Any business owner with any hope of success is not stupid enough to intentionally pay higher wages, especially in the midst of this on-going sagging economy.
B. There are plenty of jobs out their that pay $15-$20 an hour that people refuse to do because their welfare benefits amounts to $13 or more an hour for free.
C. If Democrats would just accept that immigration laws were passed and invest more effort in enforcing them instead of investing their efforts in helping illegals break them then the immigration problem would get a whole lot better.
The idea that business owners who are struggling to stay afloat should pay higher wages to fix an immigration problem that the Democrats are actively and openly refusing to lift a finger to fix is utterly ridiculous. Until the president does something...ANYTHING, to fix the immigration problem in this country then it is ludicrous to suggest that anyone else should even try. The simple reality is that the nly real immigration problem that we have is Barack Obama and his liberal cronies who don't respect or love our country.
