Hey there! How's YOUR team doing???
So we're anywhere from seven to twelve games into the season now and there have been quite a few surprising starts eh? The usual gang of league leaders have been joined by Colorado(!) and as much of a Patrick Roy fan as I am, I honestly thought he'd be a disaster as an NHL head coach. But I guess if anyone was going to turn Semyon Varlamov into a decent goalie and resurrect JS Guigere's career it would be Roy. The LA Kings aren't going with their usual rotten start routine either.
On the other side of things, I thought Buffalo would be bad and Philly would be average but I had no idea they'd be this awful. I thought NJ would be a little better as well. Sergei Bobrovsky seems to have come back down to earth a little.
And of course, as is so often heard on the TSN chat boards......."Oilers domination to follow!!"
My Canucks aren't following their usual pattern of sucking in October either, usually limping to a .500 record by the end of the month, with the Sportstalk station screaming about how the coach has lost the room and the players aren't buying in and there's no one down on the farm and how it's The. End. Of. The. Civilized. World.
Vancouver is a respectable 7-4-1, though the 7 part has come against the likes of the Oilers, Flames, Devils, Sabres & Flyers and the 4 losses are from the Sharks and Habs and Columbus???
So I'm cautiously optimistic........
And you?

Very good, B's in first, 7-2, Chara seems to be in a cranky mood, that is a good thing, Krejci scored the game winner last night with .8 seconds left in the game, I think he may have actually cracked a smile...Krug is for real, QB's the PP very well while Chara Stands in front of the net. Rask is Rask, Iggy is a perfect fit, won't score 50 but doesn't mean he isn't still a very savvy 200 ft player, we will warm up and score 25 plus. Only big concern is Erickson, hopefully his marbles are not too badly scrambled, that would be a big loss.
And my non Bruin fave player, Ovy is off to his hottest start ever, 10 G in 10 Games, unusual for a usually slow starter, looks good for 50, if not 60 goals...Last edited by mooneyes; 10-25-2013 at 12:56 PM.

I'll just make it short. The Isles are extremely inconsistent and beat themselves on games. If they came out to skate a full game, they'd have 3-4 more wins.

Red Wings, good game, bad game. It's like living with a person that has severe bi-polar disorder. They will not be successful again until they can again have the lowest or near the lowest GAA in the league.
I am so disappointed with Ken Holland, that I cannot even speak. He has gone from the league's best GM to an absolute Melvin in less than 5 years.

When they win, the Habs look good. When they lose, it's a head-scratcher and usually a blown lead.
Par for the course, I guess. But it's sure a lot of fun watching the kids excel.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

My Avs are looking great, I am riding the high while it lasts! I have to say I am very happy with Varly & Jiggy as well as the defense, they look so much better than the last few years, EJ is finally starting to look at least like a 1st round pick.....still not a #1 but its improvement, Benoit, Sarich & Guenin have been surprisingly good so far as well. Duchene is looking like hes going to have a career year, I love that the players look happy and seem to actually care, amazing what getting that cancer of Joe Sacco out of there has done for the team, speaking of him, hes doing a great job in Buffalo lol

The Pens are off to a darn good start 7-2. Fleury has been amazing and I am no fleury fan.
Colorado looked like the #1 team when we played them. Really strong team all around and their goalies are unbeatable right now.
The Pens also played the oliers and I do not know how they loose so many games. Dubnyk has been very shaky and that's their main problem. Their top 2 lines are as good as any when healthy. They are the fastest team I have seen so far this year. If they find a goalie they will easily be a very tough team to play against.
Vancouver also gets a shout-out as they played so well this so far. They have 4 balanced and solid lines and look good.Flickr: Hidden Content

Have to agree with Hice on the Wings bi-polarness, you just never know what team is going to show up. Z and Dats are playing their usual magnificent hockey and Alfredsson has had a nice stretch when playing with the two of them but thats about the only high point. Howard is inconsistent while Gustafsson put up a nice stint when Howard was out, heck so far Gus has looked like the better of the two to be honest. Wings are going to have to tighten up the crease if the want to improve.
Bert and Samuelsson are on their last seasons under contract, hopefully the Management says good bye to both after this season.
Still not sure why we re-singed Cleary, hasn't and I doubt he will do a darn thing but thats usual of his regular season play as he doesn't step up til the post season.
But my biggest head scratcher still has to be why the heck do we still have Tootoo? Other than an occasional fight what does he bring to the table? To think that Nyquist has to be stuck another year in Grand Rapids so that the Wings can play Tootoo is just a disgrace. Don't get me wrong I actually like Tootoo as a player but he just doesn't belong in this organization.
Thats just my opinion.

Don't forget the loss of Lidstrom in regards to G.A.A, I think d-men of that very RARE caliber of DEFENDER'S should be considered for the Hart...I rue the day Chara retires...jmho

The biggest problem I'm having with my Canucks, as I'm sure Sluggo has noticed, is injuries. Hansen just went on LTIR, Booth and Weise both went down yesterday (haven't heard anything on either) Schroder...Burrows...
Other than that, I'm not unhappy. Hamhuis got off to a shaky start but seems to have calmed down. Kesler and the Sedins are starting to pick up production, Edler isn't taking stupid penalties and Santorelli and Richardson have really worked out thus far. All in all, I'm happy.
I see a loss coming tonight though.
