I'm done with e-bay
I've reached the point where I've just had enough of people trying to rip me off on shipping. I've got packs here & shipping has cost a few extra dollars for say 6 packs. I was looking on e-bay & there were 2 unopened packs of '91 pro-set with an opening bid of 1 cent. I emailed the seller to ask how much shipping would be & he said $25 . How the hell can it be so much? Any other overseas members have the same problem?

Unfortunatly there are some people who feel the need to hike up shipping cost of their item because they want to make a profit since their ebay listing will not generate that much money. I've seen 6 packs of cards with $35 shipping while another buy will ship a box of 05 finest (fb) sealed hobby box for $5.
I just laugh at the people charging so much. There should be a note when selling cards on ebay that says "if you charge too much shipping no one will buy" but there's always people looking for that extra buck.

If you report it to Ebay they are pretty good at stopping this kind of stuff. I email them all the time about con artists, and they shut down auctions all the time.

some people think it's hard work to ship internationally or they think it's all shady. While you do have to charge more for international, if it can go air letter post, it's not more than a few extra bucks. For a single it's not even that much more.
He probably just quoted you that because he didn't want to have to ship overseas or thought that if he did, he'd get well compensated. It does stink that ebay isn't populated more by sellers that let their products sell for their market value, rather than profiting off shipping. The thing is, a seller can charge a reasonable amount for shipping and still come out way ahead.
I can see how it's frustrating, but maybe you can find a few sellers or ebay stores that don't gouge the international folks. You can always check my ebay store out. :)

Shipping overseas blows....especially if you get a clueless postal worker, plus filling out customs forms, etc. I can't imagine it's worth anyone's time for '91 pro set packs.

LSUConn.
Filling out a customs form takes about 2 minutes. Two addresses, two dates, two signatures, and the product and price. You can even put a return address sticker on for the sender address. Although, making money shouldn't require this much work.

If you don't like the shipping price then don't buy. End of story. It isn't eBay's problem. If that guy thinks his time is worth $25.00 then that is his right, if you think it's worth $2.00 then that is your right. What good does it do reporting it to eBay? You can't prove what his costs are to send you an item...just don't bid. I don't understand why people, not just about eBay but mostly, complain about stuff that they can just as easily pass by. If you were at a show and someone named a price you thought was crazy you'd just keep walking...the internet is the same. Stop complaing (this is to everyone in general) and pick a different seller.

oh, I agree...and I wasn't trying to single you out...I personally won't bid on an item over $3.00 shipping. My point is just the hobby as a whole. It is so accusatory anymore and it drives me nuts. There are thousands a posts a day on this site and others about "So and so sells fake patches" or "don't you hate yada yada" and people calling other people out on eBay or whatever that they don't even know or have any sort of info on...when most people have no proof and just complain to complain.
