Sincerely, going by your posts, you must hate your parents if they're theists. We know what you think of theists, token terms aside, so if they fit into that group, and if someone pointed a gun to my head, I would have to say that you hate your parents. I would have to say that because of the evidence. It is not my belief that you hate your parents, but the evidence suggests you hate theists, and your parents are theists, therefore...
That's the folly of "logic only"

Wick, the second part is just another phrasing of the first part, it's the same thing.
"I fail to see where it disproves god"
^Here you are saying that you don't see science disproving god, of course it doesn't, science is NEVER in the business of disproving anything....anyways, the argument from ignorance is almost word for word that very concept: based on the fact that it has not been proven false.
Now to the second part of what you said:
"or proves God is unnecessary for this to work."
^You're just saying the same thing here, except reworded. You're claiming science has yet to disprove god in terms of the universe and life coming to be.
Again....your reasoning is textbook, I immediately saw what it was, because I've heard it from just about everyone I talk to about these matters.
"Science doesn't disprove God".
"Science can't prove how life started"
"You can't disprove god."
"If god didn't create the Universe, then who or what did?"
^All of this is just the same thing over and over again.....it's an argument from ignorance.

And BTW.....the argument from ignorance is indeed a logical fallacy.Last edited by JustAlex; 11-19-2013 at 08:26 PM.

This is where you've proven your prejudices take precedence over my actual words. That wording say "I believe God is necessary for everything we see."
Thank you for so beautifully proving my point, and yourself ignorant of what is literally right in front of you. Well done!
Your words are worthless until you admit your beliefs are BELIEFS. Until then, you're lying to yourself, so why would you tell me the truth, or worry about truth in anything you say?
Just going on logic...

Just to blow your mind, here's something I just 2 minutes ago "Liked" on FaceBook:

A theist who can laugh at a joke about God's existence must turn your world upside down.

Thank you for yet again proving the Argument from ignorance.
You equate god as necessary for everything we see but you can't think of anything else....that's the same thing.
"God did it because I don't know what else could've done it and science hasn't disproved god....therefore....god did it.....god is necessary for everything or else it doesn't make sense to me"
You're going in circles here.

Wick the whole point is that you believe in god because
A) Science hasn't been able to disprove him
and
B) he is necessary for your worldview to make sense.
You can't have "B" without "A" and therefore you are still making an argument from ignorance.Last edited by JustAlex; 11-19-2013 at 08:54 PM.

I equate a sentient being with thought for this to be created. This is where we disagree. I don't think it is reason to equate me with the Christian right, or \all other theists the way you do, despite your tokens.
This isn't difficult to grasp, alex, you just want it to be. You're the one going in circles.

Wick why do you think I keep equating you to the "Christian right"?
I NEVER equated you to those guys, from all the comments I have read from you, you have NEVER come across to me as one of those guys.
That's NOT what I'm saying.
I'm saying that your rationale for believing in God....whatever god it is that you believe in (I have no idea what god you believe in...) is the famous "argument from ignorance" reasoning that MANY theists make.
In fact, it's one of the most common arguments to make, that's why I was able to recognize it immediately when you said it.
The problem with that argument is that it's a logical fallacy and it creates a false dilemma.
Remember Wick, I was a christian for 15 years, trust me, there was a time I would use that very same argument to other people.
"God exists because I have no other way of explaining the universe or life".
It seemed so simple to me.
OF COURSE god exists.....what else could've made the universe?
But that's just it.....WE DON'T KNOW.....MAYBE it was god, maybe it wasn't....but as of right now we don't have ANY evidence whatsoever for the existence of god or that he made the universe or created life.
Basically, my position is "I don't know what was before the singularity"....but I don't believe it was god....because we don't have evidence of him.

The same reason I would have to say you hate your parents. I don't believe you think I'm part of the Christian right. You know I'm Canadian, in fact, which brings the chances of me being Christian right down even further. Yet you talk about "most" theists when every single person here knows you mean all. We literally had to give you crap just to get the token "many" or "most" out of you. And now you want to tell me you don't equate me with the Christian right because I'm a theist? That's crap.
You describe the Christian right then use the word "theists" or "Christians" instead of "Christian right". That alone absolutely proves 1 of 2 things. Either:
You think all theists are like the worst of the worst or
You just don't care who you're actually talking about.
Honestly, my guess would be the latter, and not because you don't care, but because you're too lazy to say what you actually mean. You call yourself an atheist, but describe yourself an agnostic. You know I'm a theist, but descrive theists as conservative Christians. Do you even realize theist does not mean Christian? Because you keep using it as if it does.
These are the things that make you seem whiny, uneducated and younger than is allowed on this site.

You do realize that makes you agnostic, not atheist, right? There is no mixture of the two, regardless of what the internet told you one day.
