this made me lol, I took a look at the card again and agreed.
Couldn't have said it better myself, we have been watching the decline of HOF auto's for a couple years now, seems only this past year the declines have been very noticeable.

Does the seller have the option of selling, even if the reserve was not met? That's the only thing I can think of.
Your point, IMO, is bang on. If you're not going to let it go for under $2,000 - why not just make that the starting bid?

This card has been on ebay for nearly a year that I know of. It has been auction dozens of times and sat at a BIN of $4000-$5000 at different times. The seller ran a no reserve auction and it hit $2100, but of course the buyer didn't pay becuase it was a shill.
I know for a fact that an offer of $2500 was put in early on when the card was first listed. It was auto declined. I think that the people that would have bought this card have lost interest and are not happy with the sellers greed. Its a nice card, but Gretzky Auto Patches can be had for a lot cheaper and there are plenty out there. The 1/1 stamp is meaningless now. People have given up trying to buy this card in my opinion.

The reserve worked years ago on eBay because it would cost more in fees to list it at let's say he wanted $2500 for it rather than start it at 99 cents with a reserve of $2500. But eBay kept changing the fees and whatnot so the reserve has basically become pointless now in my opinion especially because it is such a despised feature amongst buyers.
But then again people would list a card at $25.00 when the fees were like a $1 more than what it was to list the card at $24.99 so they ended up paying eBay an extra dollar to make a penny. Never understood that one.Selling all my cards here updated as of May------------> Hidden Content

People paying thousands of dollars for laundry tags is about as funny of a train-wreck that I have ever seen.

I tend to agree, for the most part, but there is the fact I collect cards, not jerseys. Just a thought.

I thought the laundry tag idea was interesting the first time around. But like everything else, the card companies beat it to death to the point where it has lost its luster.
And as others have said, they aren't always the most attractive cards.

I hate laundry tags...especially on my underwear. Not really sure where I was going with that, but there it is...
