I'm still pretty new the the hockey world but not to sports....how does this make any sense?
"We did not pick the best 25 players," general manager David Poile said Wednesday after the roster was announced. "We picked the best 25 players that we thought gave us a chance to compete and win the gold medal."

Yandle got robbed. Orpik is slow. Faulk really, because Carolina is known to have this stud on there blue line...
i live in columbus and am forced to watch every game,..jk i love hockey...but Jack Johnson or JJ as we call him here...he's having a bad year. Super inconsistent. We never what we will get from him. Looks nervous at times. Idk. He wanted to be our Captin. Maybe the pressure of trying to live up to it and not getting it, has got to him this year...?
This game is gonna be fast on the big ice. We need the speed and skill this yearLast edited by Boosh; 01-02-2014 at 03:41 AM.

i agree. We will see how the defense pans out this year. The selections on defenses didn't make sense. But, they are USA coaches and I watch on TV so we will see

Skill-wise I agree. However, the US team was quoted for saying that they "did not pick the best 25 players [...] We picked the best 25 players that we thought gave us a chance to compete and win the gold medal." general manager David Poile said Wednesday after the roster was announced.
That makes sense, but it'll be interesting to see how the Americans perform in Sochi. I believe Bylsma will do a terrific job as their coach.

It's pretty simple, they're taking their blueprint from the 1980 team. You try to put together the best team, not a team full of the best players, there is a distinct difference. This team is full of solid, two-way players and very good stay at home defenceman. While Team USA might not light up the lamp, the way that Miller is playing and the solid team defense that this team will play, they have a great chance to compete for the Gold.
The only real snub to me was Yandle (I also would have really liked Leddy on the big ice), his game would play really well on the International ice.

The 1980 point is very accurate. the people making decisions realize their best players play between the pipes (miller/quick) they are gonna play to win games 2-1 not 4-3 and they brought the best team they think can accomplish that goal. i do think bobby ryan may have gotten the short end but theres always one guy whos gonna look like he got jobbed when picking an "all star" team

Ya I think Ryan's scoring would have helped, but if you read the ESPN article about selecting the team, it seemed Ryan wasn't even really under consideration. They will gladly take a slight hit in scoring, for a defensively responsible, harder working player. Since Saad was the next man up for wingers, I'm secretly hoping there is an injury that gets him on this team haha

Ryan should be there. I'm not sure about Faulk.
They finally got the goaltenders correct, those are your 3 most deserving and will play the best. Tim Thomas - Meh.

I scratched my head quite a bit when I saw Ryan off the list. I threw up in my mouth a little when Burke's comments came out. It's not that Ryan was left off but the way it ultimately happened that has me shaking my head. He said he felt degraded, and that sounds about right.

All the comments about Buff, Okposo, Ryan, Yandle...made me sick.
Only one that I was happy with was Shero's comments. He actually complimented Howard(in a explicit way. lol).
