Well I'll tell ya right now, it's going to be incredibly tough for any player to ever form a legacy that Kobe and MJ have formed. Those 2 guys stand alone. I believe that MJ is the best player ever, with Kobe closely following second. If Kobe can get the all time scoring record under his belt, I'd put him #1. I really don't quite think it's fair to compare anyone, even of Lebron's ability, to either of those guys. Lebron could be there someday, but it's unlikely.

It's not fair to compare anybody to Jordan... too bad Lebron does it himself all the time.

10th all time in scoring??? Try 5th. He has a good chance at getting there.

More things in the game than scoring. So Kobe is the 5th best? Or the 2nd best?

    10th best all time.

To say Kobe is the 2nd best player all time is ABSURD. To call him the GOAT once he gets the all time scoring title is mind boggling to me. He is top 10 worthy, should not be discussed for even Top 5 all time.

What more must he accomplish? That is really the last significant thing that would define his career. I understand that there's more to the game than scoring, but when you've won an MVP and 5 championships, not to mention all the clutch shots he has had, what more do you need? I personally think it's ABSURD to leave him out of the top 5.

These player are better than Kobe

MJ, Kareem, Magic, Shaq, Bill Russell, Wilt, Bird, Hakeem, Duncan

The MVP he won was basically given to him by the media, Chris Paul should have won MVP.
And the rings he won, 3 of them he was Shaq's sidekick so he didn't win them by himself.

Come on. We aren't going to give him much deserved credit because he played with Shaq? If we're going to be like that, you can also say that Jordan played with the likes of Rodman and Pippen for a couple titles. Some of those guys on that list shouldn't even be in the same breath as Kobe. If you want to argue guys like Wilt, MJ, and Russell, that's fine, but Duncan and Bird shouldn't even be considered ahead of Kobe. With Magic it's tough because you have to think about how much better his numbers, which are already impressive, would've been if his career wasn't cut short.
