What do you do with your commons?

I'm ashamed to admit it, but there have been times in the past when I've trashed some unwanted common cards due to a lack of storage, etc...
I'm in the military and was stationed overseas for MANY years so there were no real avenues to lighten my common-card load. Here's my question:

Is there a program for donating unwanted cards to charity...like a "Cards-for-Kids" or something? I'd much rather see a needy child get them than have them turned into landfill.

FlyShyts- Thanks for the reply. I transferred to Hawaii a few months back. I'll look into the childrens hospital option.

I put them in 5000 count boxes and put them out for a nickel at the shows for kids and give them some when they buy other cards. I also make up grab bags with some lower end GU inserted and sell them for a buck a piece to children only( I had an adult come up and try to buy them all right out from under a kid once so now I won't sell them to adults) once all the new products come out I will donate whats left to the local elementary school

Jedi I hear your problem. I have somewhere in the ballpark of 40,000 baseball cards just sitting in boxes. I have no idea what to do with them and they're starting to overwhelm my office space.

I did a thread search for "charity". Got alot of hits, but maybe this is the thread jacob was referring to. Not sure where this guy is located or when his event is.
I'm going to speak with my pastor. He's a big time card collector...Steelers. Yeah..I know but I like him anyway...:)
I'd like to do something local here in Hawaii.

I throw mine into albums and after awhile they start cloggin up space, so I gotta do something soon also since I dont have need for most them anyway.

Mine are in 800 & 5000 count boxes. I keep them around in case someone has a break out season.

I love collecting base acrds and real cheap stuff. Since I usually don't have enough to break boxes for good stuff, I just buy packs from my local reatil stores. Does anyone else collect base cards?
