Vancouver is retaining 15%, or just over $5million which will be paid out at slightly over $1million/yrs for 5 years.
I'm a Luongo fan, but that right there is a win for Van management. Lack is 1-2 years away from starting and Markstrom is about that far ahead of him. This tandem has played together before in Sweden with Markstrom as #1. Markstrom 1 year away from RFA, Lack 2 yrs from UFA. These two will battle it out for the starting position next year. If Markstrom takes it Lack becomes tradebait a year from now and Joakim Anderson gets his time as backup. If Lack takes it Van let's him sign elsewhere or takes peanuts for his rights this time next year. Anderson will back up in a year.Last edited by Wickabee; 03-04-2014 at 08:35 PM.

I still don't see why everyone is sweating this Lou deal. Canucks are rebuilding and got 2 players to help them with that. Luongo is obviously not going to be a part of Florida's rebuild (at least an effective part). He is not going to be the starter by the time Florida is done rebuilding. This deal also gave the Canucks $5 million of cap space. This deal was obviously just to give closure to Lou and the Canucks and we got two players that can contribute along the road. End of story

Pretty sure you mean Joacim Eriksson for back up.

End of Story? This is a terrible trade. A 3rd/4the liner and a backup goalie? That is not rebuilding. It's called Gillis is terrible at his job. The only reason he has a job this year was by firing Vigneault. The smart Monkey from Plant of the Apes could have done a better job.
A recap of his trades: Luongo, Schneider, and Hodgson. We get Kassian, Bo-Horvath, Markstrom, and a 3rd liner. Holy ™™™™, someone get me that monkey. At this rate we might get a 5th round draft pick and another 3rd liner for Kesler. Or maybe they just decide to give Kesler away to a good "home."
Not to mention Canucks are bad at drafting and we don't have a lot of talent with Utica. Wake me up in 5-10 years when the Canucks make it to the 2nd round of the playoffs.
