Anybody excited about this Luongo deal has to put this whole year into perspective. In one year, Vancouver has gone from having two number one goalies to having basically two backups. To show for trades? Bo Horvat, which no-one knows is going to pan out, an unproven goalie in Markstrom and a 3rd/4th line center in Shawn Matthias. That is not exactly the return you would expect for Schneider and Luongo.

Exactly. Gillis has proven himself to be pretty bad at this whole trade thing.

People are complaining about what was given for Luongo. Based on his ludicrous contract and his age, be lucky to get future considerations. Very few GM's are going to give up anything for the little latitude that Luongo brings. He is a wonderful Netminder, of that there is no doubt, but he does not have one year left on a 600K contract at age 24.

Many teams would love Luongo, they just don't want his age, or what is left on his contract. This is why no NHL deal should ever be more than 5 years.

The rumor mill has Gaborik going to LA. If true, he'll fit right in.

Yeah, sounds like Gaborik to the Kings..... and St. Louis to the Rangers.... but no confirmation of either yet

St. Louis to the Rags? I'm scratching my head on this one.

New York is a good player Graveyard.

Callahan to Tampa and a 1st rounder, and a 2nd rounder, for St. Louis. That's a lot to give up for St. Louis, only based on his age mind you.

    Do I have this correct?

That's what they're saying on TSN, yeah. And if Callahan re-signs in Tampa the Rangers get a pick of some sort (still not announced/confirmed)

I think that the Rags could have gotten St. Louis for the 2 draft picks and perhaps a 4th rounder without having to give up Callahan, but then they would have ran out of ceiling cap, because Callahan needs a new contract.

    Very interesting trade, no doubt.

Cory conacher picked up off waivers by the Sabres, as well as Corey Potter. So the sens got a 4th round pick for Ben bishop essentially...
