Leaf fan's, Randy Carlyle is ..............?
Fill in the blank
Reimer took them to game 7 vs the beast of the east, more than Fleury could do, and their gpg is 2.4, seems to me
he throws his players under the bus, Kadri etc etc. Seems more like a confidence killer than a teacher/motivator....
Playing goalie especially, most stressful position is sports? Confidence is huge....anyway just my 2 cts....
I am scared to death Paul Maurice will test the Market and the Leafs will give him any price he wants....and,
Curmudgeon Randy will go to the young Jets...

Randy Carlyle is saying what most educated hockey fans are thinking ( dont even have to be Leafs fans )
Has Reimer been good in the last few games ...... no. Has the team, no not really either. But it comes with the position, are the Leafs leaving him out to dry on some goals .... of course they are. But the other goals, are just horrible. The shots right through him, the little wrist shot along the ice by the TB D man ..... just horrible.
Being in Vancouver, we kinda saw the same thing with Luongo when he went through the stretch of letting in 1 or so bad goals a game .... but he was making those saves that goalies arnt supposed to be making as well. He would let some soft shot beat him from way out that he should have stopped, but then would make 2 - 3 great saves that should be in the back of the net in the same game. Reimer on the other hand, isnt making those big saves to redeem himself somewhat .... and hes letting the softies in, more than 1 per game over the last 7
On a side note, I just want to ask all those Leafs guys that said the Bernier trade was bad and that they already had a legitimate number 1 goalie in Reimer, and backup in Scrivens ...... that Bernier was no upgrade at all ..... what they think now. IMO, without Bernier, the Leafs are in worse shape than my CanucksLast edited by canucksfan007; 03-24-2014 at 06:03 PM.

If reimer had a defence in front of him and was a number 1 goalie his numbers are way better than they are now. And no softies either. Being a backup has destroyed him and his confidence. James will get dealt in the off season and will assume a number 1 role and will do very well for himself.

I think you might be getting Reimer in Winnipeg next year, not Carlyle, so fear not!
I think Randy isn't alone in expecting more out of Reimer, but he's also done a bang-up job at obliterating any shred of confidence he may have had. My biggest beef with Randy is that the team he has isn't the team he wants, and it shouldn't be coached the way he coaches them. They are less than the sum of their parts (players) and have been for most of the season. Why a former Norris-winning defenseman can't get his team to play defense is huge cause for concern. I think the Leafs need a more vocal coach, one who can communicate what they need to do more simply, and one who can motivate them to not come out half-asleep for the first half of every first period.

They need to make better decisions - GM wise...Overpaying for players...Clarkson, Phaneuf, Bolland...but to get to the question at hand...Randy Carlyle is a Stanley Cup winning head coach...more than can be said about Wilson.

How much coaching is really required to win a cup with Pronger and Niedermayer as your top D pairing, and with Getzlaf, Perry, a younger Selanne, etc. providing the offense?
What the Leafs paid for those players is no more than what they would have been paid by another team. Money had to be spent to get who they wanted.

The harsh overpayment of Clarkson has set the trend for mediocre play on the Leaf's behalf. Carlyle is a task master, but he is a very, very astute Hockey man. If you aren't playing to his level of expectation, then perhaps you simply are not doing your job.

Too bad if he gets fired, because the current Leafs are simply not playing to their ability. It is the coach's job to motivate them however difficult that appears to be.
I don't think that the Leaf players are serious, they are only collecting their pay at the moment, and providing the minimum of play in doing so.
