decent post. I still believe UD trumps Panini by a mile in Hockey. Their products sell for more and singles sell for more.

It is a very misleading observation that UD products sell for more in the secondary market. It is true that if you take an UD card /5 and a similar Panini card /5, the UD one will sell for more. However, unless it is a box of the Cup, your chances of pulling /5 or /10 card from an UD box are essentially 0, while for Panini the chance of pulling a low numbered card even from an individual box are very good. If you pull a low numbered (like /5) card of a semi-star player or any rookie it will give you like $20-25 in the worst case of it being simply a base parallel. Thus, the average return on a box of Panini is like 40%, on a box of UD it is more like 30%.

Participated in a 2 box break and got a Gordie Howe /50 auto. Happy about that. Never pulled a Howe auto. So.. I particpated in a 2 case break and believe I picked a bad team lol but whatever. This is the only way I would break this product.

Nice post. Return and all that mumbo jumbo are concentrated too heavily. Just have fun and break it. Plus there are other avenues to create value on your boxes. Send in your clean cards of decent players to PSA or Beckett to add value.

It only adds value if somebody is prepared to pay for a high grade if that's what it gets. Remember, Canadians are the Hockey Collectors and most of us don't care about Graded cards.Last edited by centrehice; 04-20-2014 at 03:20 PM.
