Might be time to take some time off!??
I've run into a handful of traders, mostly on other sites but not all, that have taken my enthusiasm for trading away. At any one time I usually have probably 10 or so deals in the works and multiple packages incoming. Granted it's the off season and blah blahblah but currently I have 3 and practically no trade talks. I made a deal on another site, confirmed April 25th, and still haven't received my package. It's coming from Ontario so something is screwed up. These are the two cards I'm waiting for, followed by the 6 cards I gave up:
2005-06 SP Authentic Limited #155 Jim Howard PATCH AU /100
2006-07 Upper Deck #204 Phil Kessel YG RC
2001-02 Upper Deck Legends Epic Signatures #PE Phil Esposito
2004-05 UD Legends Classics Signatures #CS6 Andy Bathgate
2008-09 SPx #222 Brian Leetch FF JSY AU
2008-09 The Cup Enshrinements #CETE Tony Esposito
2011-12 Crown Royale Ice Kings Autographs #4 Daniel Sedin/99
2011-12 Panini Contenders NHL Ink #60 Dion Phaneuf SP
And the funny thing....I just don't even care. That's how I know either I need some time off or I'm done with trading/collecting all together. I'm just not enjoying it anymore. Not that anyone here should necessarily care but I just felt like getting it off my chest.

I took 5 years off and had my 13 year old son start wanting to collect before I got the excitement back. Now I am more excited to make trades for him (with my cards of course :P ) then trades for my PC.
Have a good summer and hope to see you back in the new season.

Good luck but I understand your frustration.Sometimes a break is what is needed then maybe you can come back and find things to add to your collection. But unless you have the newest toys seems hard to get deals done.

best of luck on your possible retirement. You may just need to try a different avenue in terms of your collecting style. Bust a case of wax to spice things up.

If I had as much disposable incoming as many of the people on this site seem to have then I probably would!

yeah, sometimes I feel like the only guy that can't afford to crack a case EVER! Listen though, I went through this recently and I took a break buying and trading. I still was apart of the boards as I am a mod, but slowly, as it always does the itch came back. Taking a break, or even doing something selfless like scouring the boards for low-end PC items that others need and sending them over can help. Hopefully you can see your way through as this hobby needs more good people than less!

I also went through the same thing. I was gone for a year and a bit. after a while you will miss it like I did the negotiating the different cards you can get and you will come back stronger then ever. it happens to a lot of people. Hope we dont see the last of you on here.
PS.Your card is on its way.

I've been there as well. Take a break, regroup, and know that you will be back eventually. Everytime I 'quit,' I come right back. Why? Because I love this hobby, I've been doing it since I was a child and eventually I remember why I started collecting in the first place.
Have a good break, buy something nice for your wife and we'll see you again in the fall

I still enjoy looking at breaks and participating on the boards but trading just isn't the same for me right now. I'm sure I will be around and more involved again soon.
