The problem with this year is that their is no top end superstar rookie. Other Series zone had the Crosby, Malkin, Price, Kane, Tavares, Stamkos, MacKinnon, Nugent-Hopkins, Galchenyuk, Hall, etc. Those players were all majorly hyped before their Young Guns came out. This years crop has no one like that.

It's going to be the Jonathan Drouin show this year, starting with Black Diamond.

UD's going to have the nostalgia factor running high this year with the 25th Anniversary and all.

It will be an interesting year ahead.

Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

This is not a bad thing. Hopefully this means people won't ask for ridiculous returns on this year's group.

Yes but less wax will be opened so less supply initially. ..eventually wax will be in the bargain bins and singles flooded again...so $30 ekblad will be $5 just like Seth jones..

For me, this will not be a bad thing. Sure, I want my collection to be worth something, but all I really care about is getting a rookie card of a good player.

I don't bust wax, I just collect singles (and I don't acquire RCs immediately upon release. I wait until the players prove themselves or not). Since I only collect SP Authentic rookies (or if the player doesn't have one, the best I can get), everything else is fluff and I couldn't care less about it.

Let's use Ekblad as an example. If his card is a FWA and I can get it for $10-$20, SWEET. But that is only a hypothetical example...I strongly suspect his FWA will be a good asking price.

i am surprised the 13-14 Upper Deck boxes are only 59.99 on average. Crazy that they are that low. That class is awesome maybe Upper Deck just printed too much of it.

Maybe it's just me, but it looks like people are going back to trading. I completed 2 very decent trades this week, it didn't happen since a long time.

I think you hit the nail on the head there. Plenty of supply out there, as most of us predicted and has been reflected in the secondary market.

I'm slowly turning from cards to silver coins. With a good timing for buying it's possible to make money with these, not like with boxes.

Unlike some that have posted in this thread, at least you have clearly stated that you are an investor vice a hobbyist and that you are looking to make money elsewhere.
I will consider buying cards from my want list for the right price.
