Its funny how Tigers fans keep saying Verlander.
I mean the kid is gonna be great and is having a great season but Paplebon is gonna win it unanamously if he keeps it up and has possibly been the most impostant player on any one(1st place) team this season.

Yeah. I wonder if it has anything to do with him having more wins before the All-Star break of any rookie pitcher in years -- or any Tigers pitcher since Mark "The Bird" Fidrych?

Of course Papelbon's going to win it. Someone will say "Red Sox," and the discussion will be over with the national sports media that decides the awards.

It might be an East Coast Bias, but it might also be the fact that the kid has a 0.24 ERA and 23 saves, or a WHIP of 0.68.
Nobody is hating on Verlander, but Papelbon has been great. Plus, his nickname is Papelboner.

Im so sick of this East Coast bias B.S.!!!
I live in New England and yes we a a very rabid fan base and it can get overwhelming at times but I refuse to believe that the fact that we are passionate fans gives us an advantage in Award season.
All-Star voting yes, End of Season Awards ......I dont think so.
And I will admit having an old school team like the Tigers good again is awesome and I as a fan of the old original teams hope they continue to improve and return to being a top franchise.

Oh yeah and I like to call Papelbon "Papelballs" because he is "the balls" if you know what im sayin.

How can you deny an award to a guy whose nickname is Papelballs AND Papelboner?

Isn't Kazmir a Rookie?? He has better #'s than Verlander, and he plays for sorry ™™™™™ Tampa Bay!! I think Pap's may edge them out though, if he stays on that pace!!

    Papelbon
    2 Wins, 23 Saves, 39 K's, 0.24 ERA, 0.68 WHIP

    J. Verlander
    9 Wins, 58 K's, 3.39 ERA, 1.28 WHIP

    S. Kazmir
    9 Wins 100 K's, 3.21, 1.34 Whip
