I hope the Caps pass the Isles so the Pens don't have to play the Isles in the 1st round. Then again I wish the Pens could bypass to the cup cause I don't think they can beat anyone right now.
If I was betting it sure wouldn't be on them to win the 1st round....Flickr: Hidden Content

Nice to see Lundqvist get the 1st star of the game, hopefully a sign that he is going to do well in the playoffs.

So after Scott Gomez flagrantly elbowed Alexei Emelin in the face tonight, and Emelin was spitting out some blood on the bench, the intelligent analysts at Sportsnet accused him of embellishing. Incroyable.
Also, I am furious about the Habs loss tonight. How do you blow a 5-minute powerplay, a 5-on-3, and an OT powerplay? Just horrific.

So this is where we're at....
Montreal and Tampa will host first-round series with home ice. It is still TBD who wins the division (and plays a wild card) and who finishes 2nd (and plays the 3rd place team).
The Red Wings and Bruins are now tied for points. Detroit holds a game in hand, so they are officially in the 3rd place spot in the Atlantic.
The Rangers have clinched the Metropolitan and are on the fast track to have home ice advantage throughout the Eastern Conference playoffs.
The Islanders and Capitals currently hold down the 2-3 spots in the Division with 98 and 97 points, respectively.
Pittsburgh holds a game-in-hand over their Metro opponents, and are in the first wild card spot. They also have a game in hand over Boston, with whom they are tied at 95 points.
The Senators are at 92 points (3 back of Boston) but hold a game in hand over them.
There is precious little that has been settled, but that pales in comparison to the situation out west....
Anaheim has clinched the Pacific Division, and hold the lead for the first overall spot in the Conference and the President's Trophy.
Vancouver, at 95 points, and Calgary (on their way to beating Edmonton as I type this) will have 93 points by night's end.
In the Central, Nashville, Chicago, and St. Louis have all clinched a playoffs spot.
Nashville leads with 104 points.
The Blues are a point back with a game in hand.
Chicago is two points back of Nashville, also with a game in hand.
St. Louis and Chicago play each other twice in the next five days.
The Wild are pretty solidly locked in the first wild card spot. And get a load of their schedule - they play their three Central rivals each once, and the Jets on Monday.
The Jets and Kings are tied with points (well, will be assuming the Kings hold on to this lead) and the Kings will have the second wild card based on regulation wins.
The Kings close out against Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, and Winnipeg.
The Jets face off with the Wild, St. Louis, Colorado, and Calgary.
WOW is all I can say.

Pacioretty just smacked the back of his head on the boards after an awkward hit. Looked completely out of it when skating off the ice.
