Received a Sunday package
I'm asking purely out of curiosity if anyone else has experienced this. I received a card I purchased on ebay today. As we all know, mail does not usually get delivered on a Sunday. My brother also received a card today. Both of our cards came to Canada from the US. We each checked our tracking numbers and and they advised of delivery today. Now, this brings me to my 2 questions. Is this Sunday mail delivery a Christmas thing, and is this new? And how does USPS know the package was delivered? I thought they lose track of the package once it crosses the border. Anyone know what's going on?

I'm in the states and the mail ran here today. I think it was more for packages which a bubble mailer is considered a package according to them. I believe it's like that every year but only for Christmas. In the past I believe packages from the US to Canada were only tracked to customs but for awhile now it tracks to the door and is included in the postaget. I think this is only for Canada...other countries it's still just to customs.

Interesting. I work at the Post Office here in small town Alberta and it is closed on Sunday. Maybe the bigger centers are willing to pay the employees overtime? Was this package delivered to your door?

I received a package today as well. I believe with it being close to Xmas most usps's were delivering packages today.
As for the tracking, every package that is shipped to Canada, from the US, that is sent with a customs form has tracking right to the door. Since the huge spike to send a package they have made the customs form number the tracking number. I don't know why so little people know this, but it's certainly handy.

Yes, this was delivered to my door. Found it in the mailbox when I got back from doing some shopping. I'm in Ottawa. Some mentioned USPS is delivering today, but once it gets here it's Canada Post, and I had no idea they were delivering on weekends. I'm wondering if it's only packages from the US getting delivered. Well, it was a nice surprise nonetheless.

A few months back door to door was going to be scrapped entirely. Now I'm getting stuff delivered to my house on a Sunday. Next week they will probably be dropped on my doorstep by a drone. I don't know what's what anymore.

Canada Post has a new policy. If a parcel is too big to fit in the parcel bins at the community mail boxes, or all the parcel bins are full, the RSMC is to deliver it to the persons house. If no one is home they can either leave it (suppose to be in a inconspicous spot) or leave a door knocker and return it to the Post Office for pickup.
