The point is that it's going to take a lot more than former first-round picks that aren't up to snuff and backup goalies to pry Drouin out of Tampa

Why don't the Habs take a run at him? Forget about the Kadris and Berniers and Tinordis and Tokarskis (busts or question mark guys), what about the Habs putting guys like McCarron, Lehkonen, Scherbak, etc. on the table? Bergevin has stocked the cupboards well, but should he make a move to give his team a chance to win the big one in this current window in which they seem to have a legitimate chance?

I don't see the Leafs having anything to offer Tampa for Drouin, unless they want to offer up picks, which I highly doubt they do, nor will they be giving up Marner or Nylander. The Leafs aren't getting Drouin. I'd rather they focus on Stammer anyhow.

Am I too focused on the "hometown" or "hometown team" factor in all of this? It makes sense, although I'd hate to see both guys go to division rivals if I were the Lightning. Ouch. Makes you wonder what's happening there that maybe we don't know about or see. Is this a Jon Cooper thing? I'm only guessing.

I can't envision a scenario right now where Tampa offers up their best prospect to a division rival. Much like all the Stamkos talk of a trade. Yeah sure it would be amazing but realistically, it's not going to happen.
