    Ebay issues

This has happened to me a few times, and as recently as today. I put a bid on a card and the message I got after confirming was, 'you are not the high bidder, bid again', well....... After the card ended, the final price sold for was less than what I had for my high bid. I looked on the bidders page, and my bid was not accepted! So, how can I be told I don't have the high bid, yet my bid is not on the bidding list? Like I said, this isn't the first time. I have talked to eBay before about this and one person said that people somehow can block others from bidding. I have no idea if this is true or not. After it happened to me another time, I again called, and this time a different eBay person decided to yell at me and cut me down. Since then, I have not reported my bids not being accepted. Has anyone here ever have this happen?

Also, I'm really believing a certain consignment seller is having shill bids on the items they are selling. I have heard before that the seller has been in trouble for exactly that. I find it amazing that their/his cards sell much higher than what others sell for. I'm not sure if it's OK to name the seller here or not. Is this something I should report, or leave alone? Thoughts?

    1. Any seller can block any bidder on eBay. A seller can block an individual bidder just out of spite if they feel like it, but most sellers set parameters of who can bid on their items. For example they will block ALL bidders with a low rating or ALL bidders with bid retractions and the like.

    2. ALL consigner auctions get shilled I believe, including but not limited PWCC and Probstein123 who are the kings. HOWEVER, I do NOT believe that the consignment sellers shill their own auctions, so there is nothing illegal about it and nothing eBay can do about it. What I mean is, many people will send their card to PWCC and then bid on it themselves or tell their friends to bid on it once the auction listing goes live ... there's nothing eBay can do to stop that as the seller (as in the consignment company) isn't bidding on their own listing. What eBay can get involved in is illegal shill bidding whereby the account that is auctioning the item is bidding on said item itself with another connected account. For example is Joe Schmoe auctions his own card and then bids on it himself with another account he owns, that is an actual criminal act and he can be both suspended by eBay and face criminal charges ... but ... if Joe Schmoe sends his card to PWCC or another consigner, he can bid like crazy on that card once it's listed as it's technically PWCC's listing and not his ... many collectors find such behavior to be unethical but there isn't anything eBay can do to stop it.

Who is it? Because there is one that fits this bill and most people do believe him to shill his stuff even though some people online still defend the guy and like to play dumb about his auctions. I mean this rumor has been floating around for years now so it isn't a new accusation.

Actually guys/gals we do not allow call out's on the boards. This is something that you should discuss with @scottkoz20 or @patriotsguy before calling someone out. I do understand where you guys are coming from however and it can be quite frustrating. Swiggy (Ryan) and myself actually discussed this person quite a bit via a phone conversation so I feel his frustration on the issue. On the other side Ryan I have not yet be blocked on a bid, but I rarely buy stuff on ebay my wife does lol.

I knew sellers could block buyers with a rating below a certain number and I have never retracted a bid. My feedback is perfect.

As far as the sellers name..... It has already been mentioned lol. I am on the fence whether the consignment seller is having people bid on certain items or if the person who is having their card sold through the consignment seller is bidding themselves and having friends bid as well. Could be both.... Who knows.

It is frustrating seeing a card you want and you go to bid and nothing happens. Same thing with watching a card sell higher than others that are currently being sold or have already been sold. You sit back, and wonder if you will see that card again. And if you do, it ends up being more than what it sold for or for more than what you want to pay. Example.... Last year I watched an Alex Collins 1/1 sell for around $40, just to see it again a few weeks later being sold for $250 or best offer.

eBay can be really good to you, or kick you down. We all have our ups and downs on there. I have had a lot of ups over the years, and hope that it continues

Okay, so it sounds like it's definitely one of the two kings of consignment ... if that's the case, yeah, there's really nothing that can be done as they themselves don't do anything illegal or even against eBay rules that I know of. HOWEVER, the good news is that, unlike BlackRose, the cards they list do actually sell and sell, if for rather exorbitant amount. Also MANY of the cards they list that supposedly sell, end up popping up again in a few weeks and THOSE are the cards you know were shilled as what happens is the owners bid on their own cards to the point they actually won their own cards, and then they refused to pay the consigner, so he just has to re-list them all over again.

The above said, generally speaking, if one of the two kings of consignment lists a card, it will ultimately sell for right around what it should, but that may happen on it's 2nd or 3rd time being listed when the actual owner of said card stops shilling it, or at least stops shilling it to the point of winning the auction.

Now, I will also say though that these two kings of consignments auctions almost always bring premiums over what other eBay sellers auctions bring, but they should as they have massive mailing lists and buyers trust they will get the cards they win without hassle and won't be scammed, etc.

Personally, I know there are collectors who simply won't even try to win a card listed by either seller as they don't want to pay even a 5% premium on anything and I also know collectors who almost exclusively bid and win their auctions rather than other eBayer's as they know they won't get scammed. As for me ... I'd just stop bidding at whatever level I felt was the full market value on their listings, and as for other lists, I generally would never bid on a card from someone with a 0 feedback, or from a seller in Asia ... I know that last one sounds sort of racist but from what I understand there are sellers from Asia that sell things at good prices merely to obtain your personal information, and even the great sellers from Asia - and there are lots of them - I just don't want the hassle of dealing with import duties and shipping delays.

I do my best not to over pay, but there are times I do. If a card gets to a certain price, especially with several days left, I won't bother. I have to set myself a limit, not just due to financial reasons, but also because a different card I want could pop up and sell for way cheap.

If I buy a card from a seller with a very low feedback score, I do get a little nervous. You never know what will happen. As far as overseas, I have bought some cards from England, Japan, South Korea, maybe other countries too. Although the wait time isn't the best and the shipping fees could be high, I have been fortunate enough to not encounter any issues. It's not something I do often.

England? Wow ... I don't think I've ever seen a card I wanted be available from a seller in England ... I do think I bought some of my Kobe cards from Asian sellers and most experiences were okay ... I actually once got ripped by an Australian eBay'er but it worked out okay in the end. I remember a LeBron card popping up from South Africa ... it went pretty cheap and I think most of the bidders figured it was a scam which is sad as I'm sure there are some legit collectors in South Africa as there is some serious money in that country.

The issue I've had is sellers cancelling auctions after I win a quick buy it now auction with the reason being "damaged or out of stock" and then the item pops right back up on ebay for more money.

I've contacted eBay about this, they don't care. I won a contenders Jimmy G auto for $0.99 because the seller listed this as a buy it now and not an auction, not saying he should have completely honored that one but he could have offered something instead of relisting. The day before I won a huge Jimmy G buy it now lot with 2 SP rookies /999 for $165.00, the seller relisted it because they sold so quickly and made $400.00.

This is one of the myriad of problems with eBay including the buyer scams, seller fees and horrible customer service. I wish there was an alternative option.
