I usually start higher to see if the person is a real collector of the person on the card or just getting for resale ... and I always throw in a bonus card if they pay for bubble mailer shipping if it’s not in a heavy case/Slab so don’t be afraid to barter or prove you really collect the person you are trying to buy/Trade .. ifvthats the case

Appreciate the comments, and I understand that traders will always have differing opinions on card values. But, this was clearly a trader making an attempt to procure a mid range auto, while wanting to give nothing of value in return. Telling me that he saw it at $3 on EBAY , makes me question why he didn't buy it !!!! And why is it that traders always quote EBAY previous sold prices, but no one makes mention of the ridiculous shipping fees that are paid to obtain the card in question. A while ago I was informed that a dual jersey card I had for trade was recently sold for $11 on EBAY. When I found it on the sold listings , I also noticed that the shipping fees on that card were $19.99 US ....... There are still a lot of EBAY sellers who list cards and also want to increase their sales profits by also charging overly inflated shipping fees.

"Telling me that he saw it at $3 on EBAY , makes me question why he didn't buy it !!!!"

@sports4-ever I put that sentence in bold because I need to enlighten people with this view.

I know I am in the minority here, but my situation dictates that I cannot have a PayPal account (if you want to know why this is, I'll be happy to contact you. I might contact you regardless).

Since I cannot have a PayPal account, I cannot buy any card without getting someone who has it to do it on my behalf. Since that sometimes costs extra for the help, I don't do this very often. This is one reason why a collector like me can see something on ebay but cannot buy it.

A trader responds to your post , with interest in a specific mid range auto card . He includes his traders list for you to peruse. You select an exactly equivelent valued card.

He responds by stating that the card he wants from you, is actually overated and over valued in his opinion ... and that he once saw it sold on EBAY for $3 (funny but I could not find that sale)

Then he proceeds to tell me that the card I have selected from him is actually worth much more in trade value (ughhhhhh) .

Sometimes you just have to bite your tongue and move on (lol) ..... enough said

In the end never get upset about this kind of stuff. Be polite and move on to doing deals with people you enjoy. It is that simple imo. Just like life you surround yourself with people you enjoy being around. Do that with trading. Some people will have a big circle while others will have a small circle. In the end there is no right or wrong answer in how one trades as it all a unique perspective. Hopefully, you do not let one irritating trader ruin the hobby for you.

Not a chance ..... I enjoy the hobby for trading too much to let the scammers and cheats take that away from my grandson and I . Plus, I make use of the "ignore or block" features as it must have been intended ....... to prevent the unwanted approaches of the greedy shysters

I Don't put anyone on the ignore list, I just move on. Because I know everything (LOL) I know I have made some bonehead offers and realized it after. I have since got Beckett online to not make that mistake. We all have bad days I think and I just chock those offers up to that. After all it is just a hobby have fun with it.
