these are the scores of some of the past BCS championship games....tell me if this sounds like defense to you:
2005: Texas 41 USC 38
2004: USC 55 Oklahoma 19
2002: Miami 37 Nebraska 14
2000: FSU 46 VA Tech 29
the big east has 3 teams in the top 15!! the big 12 has 1 (big east has 2 in the top 10 of every poll!!!)
and for the record, i wouldn't have had any response to your opinion if you hadn't first called my opinion, and i quote "B.S."

Although Vince Young did run the ball in to win the game, arguably the biggest play of the game was the Texas defense stopping LenDale White on that 4th and 1 or whatever to get the ball back for the go-ahead score. And I really dont think one player, no matter how good, can win a game by himself, much less the National Championship.

And please dont disregard what someone says because of their age, that's classless.

and im sorry man, but when a score is 41-38, you cant possibly tell me the game was more about defense than offense!!

You're right, it was ALOT more offense than defense. But the biggest play of the game came from the Texas defense. If Texas didnt have a pretty good defense then USC would've won that game. Because White would've gotten the first down and USC would've run out the clock. Im just saying, that the Texas defense won that game just as much as Vince Young did.
And I see what you're saying about him calling your opinion "B.S.", but age had nothing to do with it.

there was ONE big defensive play....there were 20 big offensive plays!!
here are the numbers from that game (some offensive records in there too i believe!!)
Texas: 289 rushing
267 passing
556 total yards
USC: 209 rushing
365 passing
574 total yards
thats 1130 total yards of offense!!!
vince had 200 yards rushing on 19 carries (10.5 / carry)
lendale averaged 8.3 / carry (124 yards)
reggie averaged 6.3 / carry (83 yards)
leinart was 29/40 (75%)
vince was 30/40 (75%)
there were 3 total sacks (texas 2, sc 1) and 3 total turnovers....THERE WERE 60 TOTAL FIRST DOWNS!!! thats a ridiculous number!!!
yes, there was one defensive play that was a big play, but no more important than vince's 17 yd td run with 4 minutes left or the 8 yd td run with 20 seconds left!! and there are 10 other big offensive plays throughout the game.
the point is, if you look back at the last 15 years of college football, there is only 1 or two teams that won the national championship and DIDN'T have an OUTSTANDING offense.
and as for his age not being a reason....maybe, but then what is the reason? all i know is i spend alot of time on here (and did during the summer) and 90% of the people who were banned on here for stupid coments were members under 18....so i did base my assumption on facts!!
jordan - i told you before that you are one of the good ones bud!!

First off, age doesnt equal maturity. There are plenty of people over the age of 20 or 30 or whatever that would say the same thing. There are alot of "kids" on here that ARE respectable, no matter what your facts tell you. It was his maturity that you should have attacked, because when you attack his age, you attack everyone that is "younger". Making us look like our opinions don't matter because of our age. But whatever.
I see your point. And I believe your point. Offense dominated that game, just like every other game Texas and USC played. Im just saying without defense, USC would've won that game. That ONE play saved Texas because it came at a very critical point, without that play Texas wouldnt have had the chance to win that game. Like I said, Texas not stopping USC on that 4th and 1 means that USC runs the clock out, and wins the National Championship. The Texas defense stepped up then, but USC's defense DIDNT step up and stop Vince Young's game-winning touchdown run. Thats where defense DOES make a difference. But yeah, offense does dominate college football, but it is NOT 100% of it.

Dont even start with that BS. You cant compare the Big 12 and the Big East. Throw West Virginia in almost any other confernce and I bet they have atleast 1 loss.
I didnt mean your opinion was B.S., I meant that comparing the two is B.S.(which I guees is your opinion) So I can see where you would think I was attacking you...sorry.
I still dont think West Virginia is as strong as some of the one loss teams. The Louisville game will be a good indicator as to where West Virginia stands.
