    Player Collection Question

Hey everyone. I was wondering what you guys do when you are collecting a player who has 1/1s.

Do you count those towards their total number of cards or do you count those as a separate category?

Right now, none of the players I am collecting have 1/1s, but a couple of players who I might start collecting have a lot of them.

So, for example, a player has 450 total cards (30 of which are 1/1s) and you have 100 of them and 2 1/1s. Do you have 102/450 or 100/420 plus 2 1/1s?

i think it depends on the card..printing plates dont count as a card to me.. but if there was a 1/1 mike clayton auto logo patchm, i think i would count it. the plates are more of a collectors item not a card.

I would count the 1/1s for a player collection. I'm not sure where the cut-off would be if you didn't count the 1/1s. Everything serial numbered to 10 or more? 50? 100? Just base cards? Whether I would count printing plates...I also don't think I would count those.

These days I don't think player collections are as much about completion, as they are about building an interesting and different collection. Of course, I say that but I'm trying to find all the Kevin Dineen cards out there (somewhat recently retired hockey player). But he doesn't have any 1/1s (as far as I can see), and only has 1 jersey card for autographs and memorabilia. But with short printed parallels and such, finding and buying all the cards of a current star player seems impossible these days.

Really, what do you and don't count is up to you. The collection is to make you happy, and you should do what make sense to you.

For my collections I count the 1/1's. I also add in any cards I find not listed on Beckett so my total player card numbers tend to vary from theirs.

I include them in the total card count.

    150 base/gu/auto + 4 1/1 (3 plates and 1 base) = 154 total cards

For me, realistically I do not count them in either of my player collections(Joseph Forte and Oscar Robertson). Reason being? Oscar Robertson has a decent following and I dont have deep enough pockets. Forte's just have never shown up and even if they do I likely wont be able to nab them. So they dont count for me. Does that mean I wont pick them up if possible? No, i will if i can but i wont lose sleep if i dont.

For my Jeremy Bonderman collection, Jeremy has around 890 cards. I have 765 of those and 90 of the 765 number are 1/1's.
