Imagine Canada relying on the Leafs to do something in the playoffs? lol. Same story from the last little stretch and the boys have looked good through two periods. Mrazek not tested much at all which is a good thing. Let's hope there's no leaking in the third! Varlamov being terrible has helped build this lead.

When the score got to 3-1 i got very nervous lol!! Better effort all around for the Leafs tonight but this is the Islanders, they are not very good this year though they have been playing much better lately & they have some key players out of the lineup. Still, a win is a win!!
Nice to see the Oilers break they're 7 game skid & against the Flames at that!!
Go Leafs Go!!

I just took a quick look at the Leafs roster and our top six forwards are all either on pace for career seasons or are close to what their usual numbers are. Nylander has slowed as of late but he should get close to 40 goals and if Mikheyev continues to produce, that will be a nice bonus. I think Marner will heat up and go back to his normal self. Dealing with Covid and his slow start has effected him all year, but the second half should see more of the same ol' Marnie.

If it doesn't cost too much, a Scott Mayfield trade makes a lot of sense, and bolsters the 2nd pairing with a good minutes-eating right shot who is an immediate upgrade on Holl. I'm not opposed to bringing in 2 new dmen. Chiarot would sure help out as well.
Is Klingberg a potential pickup? Another right shot who would look good on the 2nd pair. I'm happy to give Dallas Nick Robertson + for him, to unite the Robertson brothers. Heck, I'd find a way to do a Mrazek for Holtby swap too for cap purposes. What does that deal look like then? Klingberg and Holtby for Robertson, Mrazek and....? This is all off the top of my head.Last edited by ravens_creed; 01-25-2022 at 02:12 PM.

I am also all for bringing back Luke Schenn to make my Leafs Schenn jersey relevant again... the Chinese unofficial knockoff that it is... LOL

I like the Mayfield angle but not too sold on Klingberg or Holtby. Klingberg is a good offensive defenceman but he seriously lacks in the defensive department & i think the Leafs have enough of those guys already. I do like Mayfield though. With the way Soup has played i think getting Mrazek was a waste of Cap space but in all fairness to Dubas i'm not sure they thought Soup was going to be this good again this year & frankly i wasnt sure either but he has proved the nay sayers wrong. I think the Leafs need to add guys like Mayfield, Maybe a guy like Jokijarhu or Butcher, both are in Buffalo, & have affordable contracts but we would have to get rid of some contracts to clear up space. I also think the Leafs shouldnt wait until the dead line, we need the help now & we could probably save ourselves some 1st round picks.

Anyone else noticing the Leafs are only playing twice a week lately? This is going to hurt us later when we have all those games to make up in a short amount of time. I heard them yesterday on SportsNet saying that the Senators last 50 Games will be played in 100 days, a game every other night. I cant remember who it was but another team has an 8 game stretch that will be played in 13 Days. A few weeks back we had games in hand on Tampa & were even in games played with Florida. Now we have 4 games in hand on Florida too & 5 on Tampa.
Here's a Pic of the Standings right now: Pssss't, look who's in last place....

Im also hearing that a lot of these games will be made up during the Olympic break but what does that mean for the teams that are already caught up? They're going to sit idle for 16 days or more? & thats only if there's no Covid issues or New Strains lol.. Schedule makers are earning they're money this year.

Makes a ton of sense for 2022.... but I'm not so sure they want to deal Mrazek.
Jack Campbell is an all star. He's in the Vezina conversation, half way through the season. I don't see him resigning for less than $5m. If he gets a Vezina nod and/or the Leafs win a round (and he looks good): That ask is going to be over $6m in a hurry.
Are the Leafs going to shell out something like $20m for three seasons of Jack Campbell?
With (roughly) $63m spent on the top 3 defense & top 5 forwards (next year's salaries) I'd suggest that $5m will be hard to do, but workable. If Campbell is in a positing to get $6 - $7m, they may have to let him walk and find another guy for under $3m to split time with Mrazek.

I don't see the Leafs in on Klingberg at all bc the market for him will be too much and the cost too high. Plus we don't need another puck mover that can't defend. I also think that Nick Robertson will get a chance here to play and there is no reason that any team will put a big price on him since he has been injured most of his career so far. Mayfield is interesting and the cost shouldnt be too much. Chairot will also have a bidding war, so most likely out of the question. I see the Leafs doing a low budget, small move on D and mostly carrying forward with the team they have now.
The schedule is something every team will have to deal with especially the teams in Canada so it will effect everyone in the NHL.

Yeah, I too dont think the Leafs will do anything significant at the trade deadline, maybe a D-Man or 2 but at some point i think they have to address this situation with our top 4 guys. Someone is going to have to go. I doubt it will be Matthews & i think Tavares contract is too big for anyone to take him so that leaves Marner & Nylander. If it were me I would have let Nylander go when Carolina were offering us a boat load of Good D-Men for him but that ship has sailed. If the Leafs were to package Muzzin & Nylander it would save us over 10 Million in Cap Space that we could use to get a good D-Man or 2 & probably still have some money left over. I think just to get Nylander teams would take on Muzzin's contract. Who knows what the Leafs will do though. Most likely it will be the wrong thing though.
Game Night tonight Vs Anaheim!! We need these Points!! Go Leafs Go!!
