Milking the Mascots
First they make an appearance in MVP last year......then they bring them back as canvas cards for Extended......then they add the Kraken Mascot for series 2 as a Young gun.......now the rumor is that they're going to bring them back once again for national hockey card day this week.
How much longer Is Upper Deck going to milk these cows for?
I blame Gritty

Be very careful as there are Mascot sideshow fans who are watching closely for this type of dissent. Many of them see no problem whatsoever in having ended the 20 year integrity of an RC set like the Young Guns so who knows how far they will go.Last edited by piper1; 04-11-2023 at 02:09 PM.

i know they get forgotten about, but my 7 year old son loves this stuff. I hope Upper Deck continues to make mascot cards for those, like him, who do.

Accccctually, it goes back to Youppi! getting two autographs in the Habs Centennial set. Gritty is just a Johnny-come-lately.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

I don't see an issue with it aslong as the mascots have 1 YG each. Once you start releasing more, then the prices will plummet. 1 or 2 per set is fun and they will have a longer career than the players so longterm they may hold value especially when people decide to put the set of all of them together.

They can go ahead and make mascot Young Guns, but it shouldn't take the spot of a player's Young Guns in the box.

The problem is that the mascot card will be worth more money than any low level YG.

This thread made me check, and I discovered that UD made some cards of Youppi. I'm not willing to pay top $ for a Canvas SP, but I'll look for the MVP insert.
