Error cards have a long history in this hobby. Just pick up your beckett and look back in the 1909 T206 set. Yeah, there's an error card that books$20,000. I agree that "1/1" is over used on ebay, but to talk about it being criminal or throwing an error card in the trash is just rediculous.

listen guys; you don't see the car collectors paying big bucks for a 1972 cutlass "442" if there is something wrong with it and the numbers don't match. its being in mint condition and origional shape that makes cars valuable. just what makes cards any different? if so, we can just get rid of the grading companys.
a blemish making a card more desirable. get it graded, a gem mint blankback or wrinkled card. just let me know, i'll wrinkle up a bunch for you. i'm sure i can manage a few 1/1s for collectors.
but---if i had a card like that that somebody collected, i'ld give it to them, because i could.

Come on dude. We ARE NOT talking about cars. We are talking about pieces of cardboard. It does make a card rarer to not have a picture on it so there is no reasonn to fight it.

oh no, its a card, not cardboard, being a misprint, it does make it rarer, but it is still a misprint, mistake, error, but that is no reason for collectors to buy into the 1/1 stuff. if my grandmother collected little owl figurines, would a miscast one be valuable?

Bearfield you have the worst argument. How can you compare an automobile to a football card? It is SO different. While in the automotive industry an error would make the car less valued, in the card industry an error can make the card more valued and desirable. The industries are so different that using that argument is very idiotic.

we're talking about collectibles. to say you can't compare collectibles is completely beyond anyones reasoning capabilities. we're not comparing cars to cards, we're comparing collectibles. flawed collectibles have no value, be they cars, hot wheels, mcfarlands, ect. pick something not produced by the government. i can't use crayons here, to help explain, but we are comparing collectibles. so please drop the cars to cards nonsence. i NEVER compared cars to cards. are we clear on that yet?
because someone puts a flawed or misprinted card on ebay and calls it a 1/1, and says HOO RAH A 1/1 IN LARGE COLORED PRINT, some "note i say some" collectors buy into that nonsense that it is desirable.
to the ones that said i compared cars to cards, stay in school.

cars are collectibles, as is cards. which part of both are collectibles don't you understand? do you understand what i said, because it appears not?
please read my previous post where i said "we are talking about collectibles" not comparing them, about 4 times. and stay in school, or take extra. you misread what i said, and changed it. I NEVER-I REPEAT-NEVER COMPARED CARS TO CARDS. I COMPARED COLLECTIBLES!
i'm sorry, its impossible to have a discussion with people that don't comphrend what was said, and make up stuff.

hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is entertaining...But bearfield, you do need to understand that error cards DO carry a premium. That's the bottom line. Sure, a 72 Cutlass with a flaw will sell significantly less than a cherry mint one, but, come on, seriously, that's a foolish argument. They are 2 totally different animals. People go after errors of their favorite players.
