I'm also 21, every Christmas and birthday, I make my GF buy me a hobby box. I won't tell her anything else to buy me:). I hope you pull yourself something nice!

I'm 20 and feel ashamed to still be collecting cards...Among my friends it's a nerdy hobby. I guess that's why I try and play guitar to make up for any other hobbies I have.
My parents aren't to happy that I still collect cards. Heck my dad asked me the other day what all the brown envelopes were that I kept getting. I guess I'm a die hard sports fan.
No cards under the tree here. Just money that will probably be spent on cards...

You know how to shut them up?
When they bring up you spending your money on cards just reply with "...would you rather me spend it on drugs & alcohol?"
To me there are a million worse things someone could spend their money on, so when parents, friends, whoever bashing collecting it irritates the hell out of me.

hmmm
Well Elway7 (40) and I (41) are in the same age bracket. Remember it's not about making other people happy. Do you enjoy playing the guitar? If you are ashamed of the hobby, quit for a while and see if want to come back.
My wife asks me why I collect cards and what kind of return are we going to get. I tell her it is the joy of me collecting and she should be happy I am not running around at the bars.
Have a good one and Merry Christmas.

Ya...I mean I do spend money on alcohol as well, so I can't use that excuse. I'm not drinking every weekend or anything, I get a case and that lasts for 2 weekends at least if not more.
I've loved sports all my life and I remember my mom getting me cards when I was 3 or 4 since my other cousins collected. I took a long break when I was in high school and started again last year. I couldn't stay away. I'm just a die-hard sports fan.
I don't have as much money as I'd like but I still try and get as many cards as possible. Just don't know if I should spend it on my Jones-Drew collection or pick up cards of some other collections. Don't want to miss out on possibly picking up some Jones-Drews later on when I don't have money.
