    Retail Sucks

I Am Considering Leaving The Hobby. Bought A 20 Dollar Retail Box And A Loose Pack, Total Of 8 Packs, Can't Even Get A Damn Insert Anymore. All Base Card. . Last Hobby Box: No Name Dual Jersey, Stevie Franchise (yeah Right) Jersey (best Card In The Box, Pathetic), Hassan Adams Auto, And Josh Childress Auto. Can You Spell Pathetic. Then I Pick Up Some Retail, And No, Damn Card Companies Can't Even Throw An Insert In There. Maybe I Should Make My Own Cards And Sell Them For $20. Couldn't Even Sell The Cards I Got For A Dollar. Sorry About The Language And Caps Lock, Very Pissed Right Now.

Save the money up and buy singles, that way you know what you're getting instead of hoping for a lucky break.

Anybody who has been in this hobby awhile and busted wax knows that same feeling. In the long run you just cannot make out economically busting wax. It's basically the same as gambling.
    Always Looking for:

    A) Graded Vintage (Pre-1980) (BGS, BVG, PSA, SGC) in all sports
    B) Graded True RC's (No inserts or parallels) (BGS, PSA, SGC) in all sports
    C) Certified Auto and GU cards of players from the 70's and further back in all sports

Ive had to deal with the same stuff but for me busting packs is half the fun you gotta know the risk when you dont by singles.

I agree with all who have posted.

It makes much more sense to buy singles. Think about it. Would you rather have 2-3 decent GU, or AU cards for $20, that will certainly go up in value, or would you rather have 30-40 base cards that won't pay for the box.

While busting wax can be fun, {where else can you pull a $200 card for $3....aside from Mike's Mojo ;)},remember that busting wax is essentially gambling.

You are paying money, and hoping that you'll get what you want. Exactly like the lottery.

My advice is to buy singles. While you may not get as many cards for your money, you'll certainly know what you are getting, and that; to me, is much more appreciable than busting wax.

Wax is always a gamble man. Sometimes it is just better to buy singles.

I agree. Most of the time, retail sucks. However, my mind has been changed after tonite's encounter with retail from Target. Read this (https://www.sportscardforum.com/showt...43#post1896143)

EDIT: I'm NOT showing anything off, I'm just giving hope to those who have little :)

I agree. I guess that I am just pissed off becuase I purchased this with a gift card, and I debated whether to buy the retail box or to buy a basketball I could get signed at the game. Went with the box and got all base cards, not even an insert. I will probably leave retail to the pack searchers and birds from now on.
