Sell individually or as a set?

    First post newb here. :icon_eek:

I've got a quick question for you guys. I have a set of vintage football cards. The 1957 set is nearly complete, missing only card #121 and includes Unitas, Hornung, Starr, etc. The 1956 set is complete.

They honestly don't look like they've been played with much and the only issue I see with them is some slight yellowing around the edges from age (but you can't see it on the faces of the cards.

My question is: should I do more research and pick out the more valuable rookie/hof cards and have them graded or should I keep them all together and have all of them graded as a set?

There are no authorized PSA dealers in my state (OR) so I would have to get a membership and send them in directly.

Any help/advice/suggestions y'all might have would be greatly appreciated.

Where can I find/order the 'book value' book?

Grading would really increase the value of them if they are in good shape (7-8 or above) They money you would spend on the grading would be well worth it after selling, I would sell them as singles.

    welcome to SCF!

definitely purchase that #121 card to complete the one set. Grading will run you a good buck if you`re gonna do the entire set. It should pay off quite well though when you decide to sell it as graded. As for joining PSA, it would be much better if you do so and eliminate that third party person. I`ve heard horror stories of cards being switched out by those third party people who send in cards for others. I wouldn`t break the sets and sell them as singles. Not for those sets anyway. Good luck with whatever you decide. Post some pics here if you can.

Thanks for the welcome. Here are a few pics. As you can see, I'm not a photographer by trade.

Thanks. They look like they've been handled only a few times ever.

I can only second that WOW motion. They`re in awesome condition and has certainly made up my mind on wether or not to have them all graded. Without a doubt, get the entire set graded. You have something very special, and quite rare there.

Some of the crispest corners I have seen on any card that old. If you were to grade this set you will clean up big time. Like the others said, get the last card and grade it.
