2007 A&G Hobby Box - disappointment....
Well, I caught the bug again this year and had to bust open a box that seemed worthwhile. With all the hype, I decided to give the ever so popular Allen & Ginter 2007 a try in hopes of getting one of Bruce Lee's Eyebrows or something else strange.
I started with the insanely huge card sitting on top. Through the wrap, I could see "Japan." I crossed my fingers and opened to hopefully reveal a huge card auto'd by every japanese player in the ML. No dice. Just a big pic of 4 mini cards of hideki okajima, kenji joujima, akinori iwamora, and tadahito iguchi. Ouch. Not even ichiro or daisuke....
Through the first 19 packs - I got absolutely nothing. No relic, no auto, nothin. Well, unless a panama flag, a costa rican flag, and a black border mini Adam Wainright with a number are considered pulls...
So I continue - pack 20 gives me a black border mini Victor Martinez (also has a number...). Pack 21 has in it a caesar augustus mini. With only 3 packs left, I begin to worry. Then it happened - the HIT OF THE BOX.
a Troy Glaus Bat Relic.... be still my heart....
The second to last pack yielded a base daisuke rookie with was kind of cool to get, although nothing special. Then, knowing the "guarantee," I was ready for the next hit in my final pack. I carefully peeled away the wrapper and removed the small stack of cards to reveal.... NOTHING. My stinkin box had givin me only one hit. No super rare snakes, or autos, or rips, or even ultra short printed cards. Just Troy Glaus' bat shaving.
Anyone else have this bad of a box?! should i call topps about it? or am I just stuck having bought the crappiest box EVER.

This is why I don't buy A&G, it's a huge hit or miss and I got a similar box last year from this set...

What exactly does the box say on it with regard to what inserts you can expect?

Need to contact Topps. Topps guarantees 2 of the following for every box: Autos, Relics, Printing Plates or 1887 Originals. So you are missing a "hit". Contact Topps and explain to them what you situation is and they should send you a second "hit".

On the box it says Look for 2 Framed Autographs, Relics, Printing Plates, and/or Allen & Ginter Original cards per box on average. I recently read another forum member calling upper deck about his missing hits and they just gave him the "on average" excuse. If topps pulls that crap on me, im done with them.

A&G is for set builders primarily. Anyone looking for the "hit" needs to look elsewhere. I don't understand why you "hit" guys are even opening this stuff anymore.

I bought three hobby boxes with the intent of building this years set.
Box 1: Mini printing plate - Marcus Giles (no biggie, but a 1/1)
Box 2: A&G Originals 1888 N11 Pennsylvania State Flag card
Box 3: Frank Thomas Rip Card - yielding a Jeter extended series card
Just extreme luck?

building a set is fun - but its always nice to get the extra card or 2 thats actually really cool to have and may just be worth keeping separate. After all, if i was going after the set, i couldve bought 6 retail boxes at Target for the price of the hobby box. Just bought one the other day and pulled a black border mini Dennis Rodman with no number. A better pull than a splinter from Troy Glaus' bat according to Ebays prices. Anywho, gonna give topps a call 2m. Ill keep the thread updated.
oh... and flyerick.. I think one of your boxes got mixed up with mine at the factory... Id be willing to trade back to make things right ;)

I had a couple bad boxes myself. I had two relics but they stunk.
