    Air Traffic Controller

So...im a senior in high school now and i have to consider my options when i get outta school....For some reason....dont ask me why....i have recently been taking into account the possibility of becoming an Air traffic controller. Maybe its the fact taht i will have peoples lives in my hands and it would be up to me to get them where they are going safely. I was wondering if there was any1 on SCF that had information on this. Is it something i should try for? Are the posotions to limited? Any help would be appreciated....thanks in advance..

My Dad really enjoyed his time being an Air Traffic Controller in the Navy. You could always try that route also.

I was also going to suggest the Navy. My uncle went that route. Good luck in your search.

From what I know, if you are interested in being a controller there will be a job. Certainly though, it would require a ton of hard work.

Where is up North? San Fran or Boston, if so he needs that much just to break even.

Very true ... this is the DC/Virginia area. I'm not sure of the cost of living but I know if I made 130K a year regardless of where I lived I could live comfortable.

haybierman - yeah I was also surprised when he told me. Of course he's been in for a while and went through several locations to get where he is at today, but hey 130K is a 130K.
