What I will do is call all the military that voted and do a survery, will that make you happy? Your CNN poll proves nothing. Until you can post an official voting result by military your poll is as good as a guess as any poll I can produce. Should we do a poll of military guys on STC? I know of 2 Democrats of 24 people in my office. Should I poll them as well?
Last I looked CNN was not the official reporter of military voting.

I think we've gotten off the topic. Not sure why percentages are such a HOT topic!
I agree. I know personally over 10 people that were stationed in Iraq or in the Middle East supporting Iraq (3 there now). None of them like the comments by Harry Reid and all despise the media for their biased comments.
Harry Reid should know that his message will be broadcast throughout the Middle East showing the #1 senator in America has stated the war is lost in Iraq. His message only helps the enemy and hurts the morale of our troops.

Here's the problem.
Your response to another poster - "Usual factless response! 70% of the military voted for Bush in 2004. Know the facts."
You cannot prove that, plain and simple. It is not a fact. I've given you ample opportunity to sight just one source that states- "70% of the military voted for Bush in the 2004 election." It can't be done for the simple reason that there is no way to factually back up the statement, so in essence your response to the poster was no more factual than his.
You may not like the CNN exit poll but at least it was done of people who just completed voting and associated themselves with the military, not of some hypothetical opinion poll. Those were actual votes.
As for Reid, his comments are what they are. He believes the war is lost. I would say there are many others in this country who feel the same way. If Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, et al had leveled with the American public from day one and not continually changed the reasons for going into Iraq, not tried to portray the U.S. forces as liberators that would be greeted with flowers, etc. maybe the public would have been more inclined to stick it out. Americans can handle most anything, especially if someone is upfront with the facts. This administration has shown time and again that it has no idea how to handle the situation created in Iraq.
The president's own father made it clear invading Iraq would be a mistake.
All we have seen from day one is one misstep after another.

Retired Major General Paul Eaton spoke out about the Bush Administration back in March. It's not often you see someone in the military this vocal against a republican head.

For every General that is vocal against President Bush there are dozens that are not. What is your point?

And you have based your whole assumption on a CNN poll and not the actual vote. Like I said, do your own research as I won't do it for you. I surveyed my office and 95% voted for Bush.

I think the point is that this is going nowhere.

You made a blanket statement that 70% of the military voted for Bush in 2004. I don't know any other way to state it other than to say - show me facts that back up your post. Can't make it any simpler. Show me anything that states "70% of the military voted for Bush in 2004."

"For every General that is vocal against President Bush there are dozens that are not. What is your point?"
And your point is what? That generals who are opposed to Bush are wrong? That generals who are retired somehow have less of an opinion on the matter?
