Joe,
I know you like debates and it good for people to be able to air their thoughts. I mean once you read it you know if it worth your time to take a chance on responding. As I done it with Mike but I personally believe even if I chose him information contrary to what he believes he would still hold his position or others. As the whole post on the whole 80 or 60 percent and no one could provide relevant stats in the eye of the other person arguing.
P.S. I rarely join in the political one's as people tend to vote for a lot of reasons and most of them are illogical in my mindset. But hey it a free country let people vote the way they want and try to change the system the way we created it. See ya around the forums as usual of course not as much in the political arena.

I do not mind political discussion, in fact, I really enjoy it. I do not enjoy childish whining that takes place within the debates, and far too often that is what happens with said debates. If people were more adult about it I would not make such a suggestion, which is all this thread is.

I don't mind debates, but when it is nonsensical, it is pointless. And a lot of the times the politically driven threads are just that. If people were able to separate their bias from their arguments it would be different, but many times people are unable to do so.
Just to break it to you, I find it rare that even newspapers, “separate their bias from their arguments”. The media and journalists are suppose to be “unbiased” and report the news. Can you point to a single newspaper or news station that is 100% unbiased? I haven’t found one yet.
What I was thinking and have brought up in the past is a “General Discussion” for sport card general topics and a “Lounge” for everything else.
I am in NO way going to silence people on this forum and restrict free speech on politics. Yes this is a sports card site, but people like to talk about a variety of things like politics, videos, entertainment, etc. I am not going to play dictator and restrict what people can post, especially if they follow the forum rules and keep their threads free of swearing, personal attacks, etc.

Yes, I already knew that the media has a bias within its reporting. That is why I avoid the Op-Ed pieces a majority of the time in the papers I read. I also do not watch much news on TV except for a few select jounalists.
Being selective in in what is posted is not be a dictator. I am a member of other message boards and threads about religion and politics are not allowed because of the tumble downhill that they take. People seem to take personal offense when a religion or polititcal stance is questioned, thus leading to an unnecessary argument.

Thanks for your input. The other boards can restrict posting, but I will not. I think it is funny that I am the “evil Republican” on this board and my board is the most open regarding free speech. Personally, I don’t want people on STC that can’t refrain from swearing or personal attacks regarding any discussion.
The main difference is I think STC members are all adults. I don’t care if you are 14 or 50, you should act responsibly when talking to another member if it is politics or card trading. Some of the most heated arguments I have seen are not political debates, but “My team is better than yours,” debates.
People know the rule of treating members with respect no matter what the topic is. I will not restrict political discussion with election season so close. I am a firm believer that people should learn about the candidates they are voting for. I have NEVER edited, removed or banned a member for his political view point, no matter how much I disagree with them. I don’t care if you are Michael Moore or Hillary Clinton, you will always have voice in a general discussion forum on STC. I may put together a Lounge to separate general sports card discussion and general overall discussion.

You do have the tendency to be a little over zealous in your posts I've noticed. I don't mind debating with you or anyone else, but sometimes you are a little pushy and don't always read what is posted. I will admit that I have been a jerk in some of my rebuttals as well. As long as things like that can be avoided, debates are great and a lot of fun. I commend you for allowing things to be open, but have noticed that people can sometimes get away with stuff they shouldn't, myself included.

I’m always passionate about my beliefs and I can tell you are as well. But I know you have never felt threatened by me. I am vocal, but I do not use my position and treat everyone as equal. I will admit I can’t always read every post because I run close to 10 websites and don’t have the time to read 15 posts on a single thread that gets posted since my last log in. I will try to read more in the future and if I don’t have time will just stay out of the conversation.
