It doesnt bother me that people put cards up for sale it is a "market" and this kinda of event is what effects a market. For someone who puts up like stickers/car magnets they made for ST's death that does bother me bc that is more just making profit off someones death. However, cards are run by a market and this is like anything else demand goes up and the price goes up. I think its ridiculous to try and trade with someone right now and hold ST card values way higher then they actually are but its their cards they can do what they want. Me personally I will admit that I tried to sell some of his cards because I wanted to be able to buy a jersey for the rest of this year. I put up a buy it now and if it didnt get bought I was fine with that but as a college student I really wanted a ST jersey to wear around campus to show support. I wish I had the extra money to buy a jersey and keep my couple cards but it didnt work out that way.

Why did 2pac only sell 6 million records when he was alive and has sold over 30 million records since he died?

Ed- I went into this thread totally disagreeing with you, but this point is a really really really good point & gross indeed.
True fans - wait a few weeks or months for the vultures to go away then you can get more of his cards a reasonable price. I put together a nice little Marquise Hill collection AFTER he was in the ground.
**I'd like to point out he died saving another person from drowingPlease feel free to message me here about my electronic bay & COMC listings

sadly we've seen this happen a few times the past few years...specifically with
Pat Tillman, Darrent Williams, one other who im forgetting, and now Taylor...
I think its kind of sad...but then if i had a good card of him now is the time to sell it...its def not right in my opinion to try and trade/acquire his cards now to resell them...i think that would be my only real problem...

I'll chime in on this.I have been collecting Dale Earnhardt Sr cards since the late 80's.Amazing drive to say the least,I have cards, diecast just about anything you could think of.I had more people call me up and say get your stuff on ebay and you will be rolling in money.I couldn't bring myself to do it.I'm not someone who is out to make a buck off a sad occurance (sp).As for Sean Taylor very sad what happened to him and I've already seen it on here where people want his cards the day he died.I'm not calling out names but it amazes me how when Darrent Williams died all the banner popped up of supposed collectors of him.Wheres those banners now? Collect them when alive and dont pretend to be a fan after they die...Abit off track Ed sorry but a rare rant from me...

I've had several people tell me i should sell my sean taylor collection in the last few days, but i'd never sell any of my Sean Taylor stuff because living or dead, he'll always be my favorite player and i'll always continue to collect his cards.

I guess you can look at this from two points of view. You can focus on the sellers and their want to make a profit. You can also look at it from the buyers' point of view (and judging from the sales, there are a LOT of fans who are looking to pick up Taylor cards.)
If I was a fan looking to get a card or two of Taylor, I'd be thrilled that there are so many out there. Could you imagine what the price of these cards would be if most of these sellers chose to hold onto them?

i think each situation is different, as in all aspects of life. i live in denver and when darrent williams died i knew someone who sold some of his cards to get money for his poor mom. he got blasted for doing it and no one knew his situation. i also knew a chump who always tried ripping people at shows off and continued to by using his death. one i thought ok, one i still think is a chump. all in all i dont agree with profiting off of tragidy, by buying to resell. i do think i would seel the cards if i already had them as traidbait though. or if i had a reason as solid as helping my mom.
