When I first got into collecting about 9 years ago, I was only collecting Nascar at the time. I didn't know the difference between inserts, base, parallels, or anything. That was until I tried trading a Sterling Marlin base for a high dollar Jeff Gordon insert (don't rem. which cards they were, though I do rem. the Marlin had a purple looking color in the background so I thought the odd color made it special for some reason, LOL
) Needless to say, I got my first lesson on the difference between base, inserts, and low/high dollar cards

The dumbest move in sports cards I ever made was when I was in high school a buddy of mine and I went to a local sports card shop and bought a bunch of 1991 Topps Stadium club football card packs trying to get a Brett Favre rookie. The thing was the packs were running about $10.00 a pack and all we got were a bunch of commons and no Favre. It was really dumb because we both spent about $50 or $60 bucks a piece. Dumbest move I ever made.

My dumb mistake happened fairly recently I must say.
I was scrolling Craig's List just for the fun of it and I found a Patrick Roy RCs for 35$ dlvd since we where in the same area.
Got the cards a couple of days after and I was thrilled, man, what a steal. I resold it on Ebay a week after for a 100$+
Card turned out to be a fake, I had to refund the Ebay user and now I have this fake card that cost me 35$ grinning at me. I haven't thrown it out yet, I'm just sort of pissed to have lost 35$ out of this.
I'm also pissed because I did not notice the fakeness myself before hand, and I have this little doubt in the back of my head that the buyer might actually have switched a fake for the the real thing.
all in all, it was pretty dumb of me.

My uncle Mark used to tell me about some old baseball cards he had and I was always interested in seeing them but they were stored away for a long period of time with a bunch of his other stuff. The cards were from the mid 50's to early 60's mostly from what he could remember. One day he was going through his stuff in storage and found the cards. Unfortuantely, they were glued to thicker pieces of cardboard for display. I don't remember there being a whole lot of stars on there but do remember a Mays and Aaron being stuck on there. I'm not sure what he ever did with them as they were sentimental to him so I assume he kept them. He was a little disappointed when I told him what the cards could have been worth if he didn't glue them down.

Really enjoyed reading through everyone's stories. I dont really have one as good as some of your's but a couple weeks ago I was sitting here updating my website when Shayne asked me to watch her guinea pig. I had him sittin with me and wasnt paying attention and he just ran down and grabbed a card and started chewing! I'm just glad it wasnt an expensive card..just a 1992 Maxx Red of Dale Earnhardt thats like $.75.
Thats too funny.
hahaha I'm still laughing at that. :)

Well back in the day I bought a topps chrome baseball blaster.
Pulled some own the game inserts and such and a rookie of some guy named.....
ALBERT PUJOLS!
I've been looking for these cards ever since I broke the box and to this day I have not found them. I've had a couple of yard sales and such but dont recall selling the cards at all.
It hurts to be forgetful.

I got a somewhat of a card story that takes the cake. Well Comic story. My Grandfather had the 1st Super man comic yes the #1 super man comic thats worth a crap load of money, and when he had it, it was worth nothing. So he gave it to my dad and my two uncles who cut it up and drew in it. My grandfather god rest his sole. Never forgave him self in the later years when he saw the price of this comic at auction.
