Please Read!
52 days ago, my daughter Olivia was born and my wife and I have started the process of completing an adoption. Since her birth, she has been diagnosed with an anemic condition. It appears to be a rarer form of anemia, however the doctors can not determine what it is because some of the results show a bit of both.
Her treatment at this point is transfusions. She has received 2 transfusions in the last month and is scheduled for another in 2 weeks from now. With this, i'm actually selling off most of my stuff. But this is NOT the reason why I am posting this.
This post is to ask anyone that can to please donate blood to your local Red Cross. This donation is going to help someone and that persons family to help them at a chance of life. You might not think a small donation would make a difference, however, it does.
Thank you for reading this post,
Scott

Scott,
I hope all goes well for her and your family. And I know it's important to donate and I do. Probably not as much as I should but I do. Take care

Scott - I agree that this does make a difference. I give blood between 6-8 times a year. I have a rare blood type and I get contacted around every 45 days to come by and give blood, even though it is recommended to wait 56 days between donations.

Scott,
good luck with everything and god bless you and your wife and daughter. I recently just gave blood and was appalled at the lack of people in there. It was an 8 hour set up and the clerk said that only ten people had donated. It's quick and easy if you are old enough and in good health. I hope you daughter responds well to the transfusions.

This is an excellent post! You should always check with your red cross and also with the local bone marrow registries. If everyone did it we would cut down needless deaths due to lack of donors down to almost nothing. A few minutes can save a life!
Good luck with your daughter! Hopefully things work out.

Thank you for mentioning bone marrow registries Mike. This is something that Olivia might need at some point when she is a bit older.
Everyone, Thanks for the wishes. It means alot to me!

I hope everything gets better for your daughter and the family. I will pray for you and your family. I remember the first time I "tried" to donate blood in high school. I only weighed a buck and two pounds in HS. I wrestled the 103 weight pound class so I was always a light-weight. Right now I can't give blood but wish I could. Being in the military you travel to a lot of countries. Once you visit some countries, you must wait a long time before you can give blood. I went to Africa and the mideast so now I'm not allowed to give blood for almost 5 or 6 years I believe. It kind of sucks, but the Red Cross plays it safe which is good I guess.
