    Card shop experience...

Let me start off by sayting I have never sold anything or traded w/a shop before. I also understand that they are in this hobby to make money.

However, is this a normal trip to the card shop?

There were some singles there that I was interested, so I got some of my dupes of Broncos together and brought them in. What I had FT was a good mix of older stars (Elway/TD) and newer stuff (Marshall/Cutler) and some ex-Broncos (Watts/Tatum Bell).

Of course he took: Cutler PP auto, Marshall Turkey auto, Rod Smith RC, Selvin Young RCs. All the "best" of my FT stuff, which makes sense, I understand.

He then proceeded to lmk that they traded @ 80% of BV, so I had 130$ Bv that he wanted, but I only could trade for 104$

I got some decent stuff out of it, but kind of took a hit considering Marshall is hot now and Cutler, well, his stuff sells fairly high anyways.

Is this the normal procedure for trading at a card shop?

thats pretty much how it goes.....your lucky you had some "hot" stuff....most card shops will only trade your stuff at %50 or low book value

So it doesnt sound like a bum deal seems to me.

I dont think Ill do it again though, unless they have somethin real rare.

Second question, they have a trade night coming up and how do those normally work?

I think 80% is a fair % for both you and the shop as long as you are getting something you want.. thats really what it's all about

trade nights are just people coming in and doing trades- just like you would do here. trade by bv or however you and ur trading partner choose to do it. The shop is doing it to get people in to buy packs/boxes ect...

yea I don't really trade at shops unless they have something I want and then sometimes they don't go all crazy with "ebay values" and will still trade things at book even though they are selling well on ebay.....trade night is usually where a bunch of shop regulars come in and ya'll trade amongst each other, however I'm sure it differs from location to location

can only speak for myself....in our local shop(the only one left in germany) we trade by BV 100%!
why should i trade for 80% of BV? makes no sense to me!

As a person whom does this as fun, for a hobby, I understand that.

However I can understand if you keeping your job and running a business depends on these types of things....

Its not like they forced me to make the trade.

i think a shop-owner will run his business with other things than trading.....its selling boxes, supplies and things like that.
maybe i am wrong, but thats what i heard of our shop-owner.(a good friend of mine)
