In really no particular order ...

The Doors
Led Zeppelin
Jimi Hendrix
The Rolling Stones
Nirvana
Madonna
The Jackson 5
Grand Master Flash
Sugar Hill Gang
KRS One

Not to be negative or anything, but this is an impossible concept. Nonetheless, let's add a little variety.
I agree that rock is the best genre in music, but c'mon people! All of the greatest musicians in the history of the world aren't in the rock genre.
Bach
Mozart
Beethoven
Miles Davis
John Coltrane
Lester Flatt
Earl Scruggs
Johnny Cash
Merle Haggard
Townes Van Zandt
Jimi Hendrix (yes I know he's rock, but he's only been listed 3 times so far?!?!)

Somebody finally said Metallica, but there's still one more that hasn't been said. C'mon guys, you gotta figure this one out. I had actually forgot about KISS until someone said them, good one.
Not to be mean or anything, but if you can, please try to put them in order, so it will make it easier on me to make out a bracket.

11chaos-I think I'll just take the top 10 and go with those lol. Too long of a list. And you finally said Black Sabbath. Might not have been one of my favs, but far and away probably the most influential band of the 60's along with Led Zeppelin.
Try to put them in order guys, just to make it easier on me. Thanks.
