UD Redemption Replacement - NEED your input!!!!
So I recently busted a box of 06-07 UD Sweet Shot and got a redemption card for a Sweet Shot Acetate #25 of Monta Ellis. I was pumped as Ellis is hot and his cards are rising fast. Well I call to redeem it and of course it's not friggin produced!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lame, but they explained to me that they would send a better card to replace it.... yea ok. So I get the cards today and they sent me an 05-06 UD rookie debut ink JR Smith (12bv) and an 03-04 SP SE Authentic Signatures Reggie Miller (80bv). It's probably cuz I hate Reggie Miller but I don't really feel this is an adequate replacement since neither of the cards are even numbered. Granted, I don't know if the Ellis would have been worth 80 but it would have been close. So what should I do? Just be happy they sent me a card worth something decent... or call and complain that the card wasn't even numbered like the customer service lady said and I want something better?!?!?!!? lmk what you guys think either way. I think I could have got something better, but maybe I'm just ignorant.

Gay. Of course the only answer they could give me is that they felt this card was more value than the Ellis. Which I agree'd with but I also explained how Ellis is hot right now and his prices are rising everyday. SO then I turned this crap around on them. I asked them what kind of food they hated, they said fish. I asked what kind of food they liked, they said steak. So I said what if you came into my restaurant and order steak and I came out with an order of fish for you and you complained and I came back with "I feel this is an equal replacement, if not better for what you were supposed to get." Haha they agree'd and then said if I wanted I could send the card back but there was no guarantee I would get anything different and it would take up to 4 months. So I said screw it, bye bye upper deck.

So i decided to email UD as well. LMK what you guys think of the email. Sorry, it's kinda long but I wanted to prove my point by being nice. Now we'll just see if it works.
Hello,
I had originally recieved a Monta Ellis Sweet Shot Acetate Auto #25 redemption awhile ago after purchasing a box of 06-07 Sweet Shot Basketball. I was overall pretty happy with the box and estatic to receive an auto of an up and coming all-star to-be. Like usual, I enter my redemption online only to find that the card was never produced. I have only gotten two redemptions and both times now this has happened. I received the replacements today and opened the packaged to find a Reggie Miller autograph not numbered and a JR Smith auto not numbered. Beings I do not like Reggie Miller even the slightest, I figured it wouldn't hurt to see what I could do about replacing the replacements I didn't like. I went to your website and found this:
What if I don't like my replacement? +/-
If you feel you have received a non-comparable replacement for your redemption, we will accept written documentation detailing your unfair exchange allegations. Such documentation must include proof of current value (i.e. Beckett Listing).
Thus the reason for my email. After calling customer service and hearing no answers worth anything to me, I figured I would plead my case through an email. I know the Reggie Miller card is probably worth a little more than Monta Ellis but I still have a few questions. First, why do you ask for your favorite players/teams if you still do not receive anything from your list? I find it hard to believe that out of my top 3 players and 3 favorite teams that not one autograph could be picked from the list? Second, how are the cards for replacement selected? It seems to me that you have random boxes worth "X" amount of dollars and just randomly pull a card the BV you feel the replacement should have and then add a card from the low-end grab bag in the case of the JR Smith.
Now, it's time for the documentation of current value. The Reggie Miller is listed in Beckett as being an 80 card. I know the Ellis is not valued in the Beckett like your customer service agents told me over and over again, but that's because YOU guys never produced the card so why would it be in the Beckett? Make sense? Because the customer service agent had a hard time figuring that one out. Monta Ellis is probably one of the hottest players right in the NBA that is not actually an All-Star (yet). His cards have been rising higher and higher everday. I'm do not collect cards just to sell them but here are a few examples from ebay as to the comparison of the two players:
Monta Ellis:
05 Bowman Chrome Monta Ellis Auto Rookie Refractor /50! Super tough pull! Monta is on fire!!!
Sold: $93.00
2005-06 SP Game Used Edition MONTA ELLIS Significance Rookie card with a serial number of 060/100
Sold: $46.00
Reggie Miller:
04-05 Reggie Miller SPX Flashbacks Jersey Auto
Sold: $10.50
2003-04 UD Ultimate Signatures Reggie Miller Auto
Sold: $30.00
Just a few examples of how the two cards have been selling as of lately. I know Reggie Miller is a Hall-of-Famer some day but I just was not happy with the replacement I had received. Please do not take this email as an angry letter, but rather as a disgruntled customer trying to find some answers. I was really looking forward to opening the package and finding an autograph numbered/on acetate/something but was rather disappointed when I saw a Reggie Miller. I would appreciate any answers I would receive besides the generic UD email most customers receive. Thanks!
Long-time UD Customer,
Josh Meinders

i can see where you would be upset, but you could also look at it as a security blanket, reggie miller is done and was a great player. monta ellis could get injured and never really be great.. but i like reggie so im leaning towards that being a better card! lol
