Losing an animal doesn't seem like a big deal, but when they've been with you for that long you can't help but feel like you've lost a family member.
My cat of 15 years died a few years ago. It definitely left me in a funk for a few weeks, because he had been my fat cat since I was 5.

Well, today's the day; she's gone now. It's odd not having her come to us for attention and affection. She was a big-time lap cat and people cat. This is so strange. Sigh.

Thanks. Mr. JJ23 spent the weekend, so that made things a little better. :)
It'll just be a tough adjustment period. I'll try to focus on cherishing the memories and starting new habits now that she is gone.

Just remember to hold the memories of Barkley and to keep the pictures of her.
I don't know what my wife, son and I will do when Loki (Our Cat, a Devon Rex) dies or have to be put to sleep. We have had him for 10 years and he is a part of our family. Our little furry Boyd.
