No Absolut Vodka for me

I will never order a drink with Absolut Vodka again. They are pushing an ad campaign promoting Mexico taking back the southwest of America. Absolut has a choose on how the market and I have a choice on what I drink.

The latest advertising campaign in Mexico from Swedish vodka maker Absolut promises to push all the right buttons south of the U.S. border, but it could ruffle a few feathers in El Norte.



The billboard and press campaign, created by advertising agency Teran\TBWA and now running in Mexico, is a colorful map depicting what the Americas might look like in an "Absolut" -- i.e., perfect -- world.
The U.S.-Mexico border lies where it was before the Mexican-American war of 1848 when California, as we now know it, was Mexican territory and known as Alta California.


Following the war, the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo saw the Mexican territories of Alta California and Santa Fé de Nuevo México ceded to the United States to become modern-day California, Texas, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado and Arizona. (Texas actually split from Mexico several years earlier to form a breakaway republic, and was voluntarily annexed by the United States in 1846.)


The campaign taps into the national pride of Mexicans, according to Favio Ucedo, creative director of leading Latino advertising agency Grupo Gallegos in the U.S.

I'm a Beer man myself, none of that God awful import crap either. Ain't nothin' better than an ice cold Bud Light. Speaking of, I think I'll grab one right now.

I drink UV Vodka or a cheap bottle of Bartons. But I know I Will never drink that ever.

It's scary to see what some people drink on here...I guess it's good that they produce that swill for the masses so there's more of the good stuff for those of us with more refined tastes!

As for my spirits, never been a vodka drinker anyway...although as a marketing grad, I've always appreciated the Absolut marketing campaign. The only decent vodkas are Smirnoff, Grey Goose, and up...anything below that is crap.

But I'm a whiskey and tequila guy...if you're gonna do it, do it right!

Well first of all, there are so many illegal mexicans in the southwest of america it's almost already going on but second...lets be realistic, this would never happen, even if the entire country of mexico drank nothing but absolute, there is no way WE or anyone would let this happen
